Just as an introduction, I bought a house 12 years ago with about 50 Insteon devices already installed. I have changed the controller to an isy994 about 9 years ago. Over time, I have replaced some dead devices and add about 20 more. But I am far from considering myself an expert.

Now let's get to the issue. A couple of weeks ago, we had a power outage. I did not notice until 3 days ago that 2 devices (both 2476d) in the basement were dead. Devices that were working since I bought the house. When I unscrewed the devices to replace them, I got the surprise to see that there is only one set of 3-wire electrical cable. So, I did the same connections as they were with brand new 2477d: white-white, black-black and capped the load (red) wire. When I turn it on, the leds works fine but the bulb does not light up ! Both act the same. Anybody has a clue to help me resolve the issue ?

They need to be linked together using your controller. 

The red wire coming from the switch provides power to the load.
What do the switches control and how the load getting its power?

Is linked to another switch. That is controlling the load.

When you replaced the bad one. Did  you verify it was linked to the one with the load connected?

Since the 2476D is the older power line only and the 2477D is dual band. You may have to do some manual things to get the new ones completely installed.

Currently, does one of the switches turn on the load, or do both switches not turn on the load?

If one switch turns the load on but the other doesn't then you need to create a scene with both switches as controllers in the scene.
