Should I factory reset my isy?

I changed the ports in isy to try to port forward. I did something wrong.

I can not get in.

Did you change both the ports? You should be able to access by appending the port number to the URL: http://my.isy.add.ress:port#

That's what I thought. I tried this, but I kept getting an error. I went a head and factory reset.

This whole port forwarding kicks my a$$!

Same thing happened to me. 'My Lighting' is no longer visible on my Network. Programs continue to work, I just don’t have PC access.

I have to agree the information on setting static IP addresses and port forwarding is confusing and I just don’t get it straight away.

Is the factory reset the only option to bringing the ISY back online? And what procedure do I need to follow to do this? I do have a recent backup.

Hi sanders2222,

Please note that the My Lighting icon is the least reliable method of accessing your ISY if your ISY is on DHCP. This method uses UPnP which restricts the usage of some ports. The best methods are:

http://isy (on windows machines only)

http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.14 (applet) OR

http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.14/admin.jnlp (application)

Please do not factory reset before trying the above URLs.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

Thanks again for your quick response to help me solve my latest ‘self-inflicted’ problem. The first link could not be found and the 3rd link opens a Find ISY window that asked for a URL. When I enter 192.168.1.101 the response is invalid URL.

The 2nd link opened the console, but produced an error message. “XML Parse Error http://192.168.1.101:443/desc†The URL in the message is the one I entered under the Configuration tab, which has me locked out when I saved the setting. When I press OK on the message, the console seems stuck and will not fully load.

Does this mean the factory reset is my only option?

Hi Jim,

I think I know the problem: you are probably using the same port for both HTTP and HTTPS and thus all the issues.

Please try telnet into ISY:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... o_Your_ISY

I think your IP address is 192.168.1.101. If that fails, then it would be OK to factory reset as long as you have a good backup. Otherwise, you will have to redo everything. If you do not have a backup, please contact our support and let us see if we can help further.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

Thank you again for your prompt reply providing me direction on solving my IP Address problem. I think you were correct in diagnosing that I had unintentionally set both the HTTP and HTTPS Ports to 443. Following your instructions, I found I could connect to my ISY via Telnet (I have Vista). And while it appeared I could change the IP addresses , the ISY always seemed to default back to the ‘bad’ settings. Even after several reboots of the ISY and my PC, I still could not access my ISY through the web browser. I decided to try the factory reset (FR) option.

After this last reboot, the problem was gone! I could access the ISY through ‘My Lighting’ and I was able to perform a complete Restore from my backup, All looks right now. You helped solve my problem but I have one last question.

I noticed under the Configuration tab, instead of blank information under the Network Settings, the box was checked for Automatic (DCHP), the IP Address was 192.168.1.101 and the HTTP and HTTPS Ports were set at 80 and 443 respectively. The NetMask, Gateway and DNS Server addresses are blank.

Are these the correct settings for a static IP Address? (Which is what I was trying to do in the first place). If they are not, then I probably need to call Tech Support cause apparently, I’m just not getting it. Thank you for all your help!

Jim

Hello,

My pleasure!

First of all, I think the reason you could not save any of your settings was because you were probably using lowercase 'y' instead of Y.

For static IP address, DCHP should be unchecked and an IP address out of the range of your router must be used. I think it would be much safer to schedule a session with our tech support team.

With kind regards,

Michel
