mitch236 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I have a bunch of Outletlinc v3.8 installed around my house. Tonight, one of the lights that is controlled was on. I went to the ISY admin console and the status of the Outletlinc was Off. I queried the device, it still reported the status as Off (even though the light was still on). I then Restored the Outletlinc and it still reported the status as Off. I guess I have to replace the Outletlinc but I'm confused about the failure. I would think that if the device failed, it wouldn't be able to Restore. Does anyone have any experience with this type of failure and is it common to fail in this manner?
mitch236 Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 On another maybe related note, I also just realized that my internet had been disabled. I live in S. Florida and we just had a decent storm with lightning and power loss for about 10 seconds. I decided to unplug the PLM and wait 10 seconds then plug it back in and the internet connection had been restored. Maybe the power outage had something to do with the Outletlinc failing? Tomorrow, I will try removing the device and then re-adding it and see if that corrects it.
Brian H Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 The controller chip in the module maybe lost. Though still responding indicates other wise. Anyway try turning off the breaker to it for maybe 30 seconds and see if it then acts better. If not it may be damaged and the relay in it is stuck on or the electronics is keeping it on.
Sub-Routine Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 There is a method to reset an OutletLinc outlined in the User Guide: http://wiki.smarthome.com/index.php?title=2473S_Manual#Resetting_OutletLinc_to_Its_Factory_Default_Settings Then you should use the ISY Admin Console to select the device and from the context menu (right click) choose Restore.
