Loss of network connection-datafee/time.ap?

Over the past few days (since Sunday), I've had to reset my ISY every day. It seems to loose it's network connection over night. All scheduled programs (besides those that rely on a network connection) seem to run fine during the time it's out. I can't connect on the local network or remotely. I looked at the log and the only things that looked odd to me is bunch of lines that say "time.ap" and "datafee." It's configured with a fixed IP address and everything else on my network is working so I assume it's something with the ISY. I can email the log file if it would help to diagnose the problem. The problem started on 2.7.12 and continued on 2.7.13.

Hi sk8er02,

Are you sure all the parameters for the static IP are correct? Since you have 2.7.13 you can use the Configuration | System | Network Settings pane to change to Automatic (DHCP) and see if that works.

A backup of the ISY will save your current settings so you can use Restore if necessary.

I tried changing it to DHCP last night around 11:30, reset and all was working. This morning, it was down again. I doubt it was the static settings anyways as they have been working fine for over a year without any changes.

Hi sk8er02,

Are you using Network Magic or a similar program?

I am not. I have a Belkin "N Wireless Router" connected to an 8 port netgear gigabit switch, which is what the ISY is connected too. I have not changed anything on my network recently and the problem just started Sunday.

Also, before work it wasn't working so I reset and was able to access it once I got here. Now I can't and it doesn't appear to be sending notifications when it should be so I believe it's down again (still on DHCP)... Seams like it goes down 5-6 hours after resetting.

(I was just about to call you, per email from Rand!)

I did this, will let you know what happens...

Both errors are DNS related, which makes sense if the network connection is lost. We have often had problems when an Ethernet switch is involved. If possible, could you connect ISY directly to the router and monitor for a few days?

it's time Warner/roadrunner. I'm using 2.7.13.

Ps: it made it overnight without going down... Still watching...

Hi sk8er2,

What firmware version do you have and who is your ISP? There were some bugs with Verizon FIOS not allowing packets with 0 size window to go through. We put a workaround for it in 2.7.13.

With kind regards,

Michel

Next time it happens, I'll try that.

It was static for a while but I switched it to DHCP the other day, per Rand. That did not fix the problem. So far it's still up since I plugged it directly into the router... Continuing to monitor.

Hi sk8er02,

Is your ISY on DHCP or are you using static IP address?

The next time this happens, would you be kind enough to just unplug/plug back in the network cable (do not reboot ISY) and report the results?

With kind regards,

Michel
