MrBill
What firmware version? and which ISY.... 994, polisy or eisy... I ask because someone in another thread is having troubling reinstalling an MSII on eisy after an upgrade....
PapaBear
Firmware 5.6.0 eisy (5226)
PapaBear
Can anyone help me install this motion detector?
Techman
Factory reset the Sensor and move it close to the PLM and then try to install it. If there's still issues it might be the eisy firmware or the MS The error you're getting means the PLM is unable to communicate with the Device. MrBill
Watch out for hard o read addresses on the device. B/8 and D/0 are hard to differentiate. there's another current thread with the seemingly same problem with a motion, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.

PapaBear
So, I wonder if my PLM has failed. I am no longer able to get IoX Launcher to work. I have cleared cache, powered eisy, etc and nothing.
Techman
There's no connection between the IoX launcher and the PLM. What happens when you click on the Launcher? When you cleared your java cache did you check the box "installed applications" which will delete the Launcher from your desktop. You'll then need to download the launcher. PapaBear
Thanks for your response. When I clear the cache I check the box to delete apps. When I click the IoX launcher I see the UD logo for a few seconds and then my screen goes blank. If I hold ALT and press TAB I see the IoX finder window and in the upper left it says "IoX finder: searching". There are actually 2 of these windows showing. Techman
Are you on a Windows or MAC, and what version? Try rebooting your computer. If you have 2 launcher windows open, it's because you clicked on the launcher twice. Did you download the launcher from here: https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp
PapaBear
Thank you for trying to help. PapaBear
Back to my issue adding a motion sensor ii. I did a factory reset and put the MS next to my PLM before putting it into linking mode. Still get the same error message about insteon engine and can't add the MS.
Techman
What's the 6 digit id code for the sensor. Are you typing it in manually?

Techman
If you're still having issues, try updating your eisy firmware to the latest version, 5.6.3 which has bug fixes.
PapaBear
Updating complete. Still can't link the MSII. I have several new from the box and I tried a few and none will link.
kzboray
@PapaBear When I get back home next week I think I have a MSII in my box of spares. I'll pull it out and test it with a PoliSy. I don't have an eisy to test with, but the OS is the same so let's find out what happens. I hated the MSII and all its failings due to UDI being unable to get any engineering docs from Insteon at the time. UDI had to revers engineer the features that are supported. The MSII just never worked reliably enough to meet real world wife standards, but I'll see if I can get one to link as a test.
