New ISY-26 / 2413s setup problems

I have an unreliable X10 system, so I took the plunge and purchased a ISY-26 (as a start, I hope to upgrade to a ISY-99i later) and a Dual Band PLM 2413S ( I was told the 2412s was obsolete). I have a new Dell vostro i7 running windows 7. When I plug the 2413s using serial cable into the ISY26 then that into my network - nothing.

I have green lights on both devices. The only other Insteon device I have at present is a RemoteLinc, I was hoping to use this to control the current X10 devices.

Where do I start??

Please help

Hello terrygb2000,

Welcome to the forum ....

Would you be kind enough to let me know what you mean by "nothing"? Can you access the Admin Console? Can you login? And, if so, what's your ISYs firmware version?

With kind regards,

Michel

In addition to Michel's questions.

There should not be any LEDs illuminated on an ISY-26. If the RX LED is lit that indicates a problem with the PLM.

Michel,

Sorry for the delay I was at work. I am now in front of my computer.

You asked:

Yes I can open an Admin console window,.

When I go File/logon "Nothing"

As to the firmware version, I do not know, I purchased the ISY26 as a refurbished latest firmware a couple of weeks ago, no paperwork came with it.

The 2 lights under the ethernet cable are green with the right hand one flashing a heartbeat.

the 4 on the top "nothing"

Thank you. So, basically, you cannot login since you are not being prompted to enter your userid/password.

Do you see My Lighting in the Network? Also, if you have access to your router, you may want to check the DHCP client table to see if there's a listing for ISY26-HOME-AUTO.

I am thinking that either your computer is not on the same network as ISY OR maybe ISY has a static IP address (from the previous owner) that is not in the same subnet as yours.

The last thing I would like to know is the sequence of lights on top of the unit when powered up.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

Windows 7 does not appear to have My Lighting as a Network option.

The router is At&t Uverse wireless !!

When I power up the ISY the RX/TX come on solid red then the Mem flashes for a second then all leds go off

Hi,

Do you have access to your router? The best thing to do is to see if you see ISY26-HOME-AUTO as one of the clients in the DHCP client table. If not, then in all likelihood your 26 is set with a static IP address which is not in the same subnet as your network. The only way you can reset that is through the shell (hyperterminal):

OK Michel,

Some progress,

I found the router IP address using at&t web page help guides

I found I had to enable Telnet in windows 7 which enabled me to access

ISY26-HOME-AUTO, I gave it a new static IP address.

Downloaded and installed latest Java using the link.

Opened My Lighting admin console, Help > about > gave me the name and IP address and v.2.7.5 information.

I then set the Time zone ( 1hour off daylight savings or not)

exited then came back in to find a ! in front of the network and MY lighting blocks in the main tab. Also File is the only tab on the top it would allow me to highlight.

So it's late, I will try again tomorrow and re-boot everything

Thanks Terry
