Almost 2 weeks now with the new router and everything has been working fine. It's strange because it worked for about a year with the old router. The new one is a Netgear WNDR3700

It's a Belkin N+ router / F5D845-4 V1

Just MobiLinc and a web browser.

Last night I bought a new/different router to see if that's the issue... waiting to see...

Hello sk8er02,

Thanks so very much for the information. If you have the same issue when connected directly to the router, then the Switch cannot be the issue.

Would you be kind enough to let me know:

1. Make/model number of your router

2. Above and beyond MobiLinc, are there other clients connected to your ISY?

With kind regards,

Michel

Spoke too soon! :-(

Last night it suddenly lost connectivity but was still running programs, however I couldn't access it through the network and (for the first time since this started happening) the MEM and ERROR lights were blinking together. Checked the log, and saw datafee errors again.

Restarted and it worked fine until this morning. I was unable to access it from work and when I got home, the thermostat wasn't adjusted so it looks like it wasn't running programs. Checked the log and there's a jump from 8:45 AM to 6:01 PM (when I got home and restarted it). The only thing odd I noticed was something that says "Net Mod" (see excerpt from log below).

Not sure if it matters, but a series of programs that run at 8:45 AM that set the thermostat, turn on the "Gone" scene which triggers an all off program and turning the camera on through the network resources.

Like sk8er02 I'm still experiencing some problems around networking that are definitely new to the later releases.

I've been able to replicate twice that simply having the ethernet link go down will cause the ISY99 system date to jump back to the epoch. And then it starts logging continuous NTP errors even after the link is restored.

I'm trying to isolate this problem and give you a set of conditions to reproduce. I've got a terminal server on the serial port now also...

Experienced network issues again today. This morning just the network was down, this afternoon, the MEM and ERROR lights were blinking. Again, a bunch of datafee and Net Mod errors in the log.

This time I also re-set my router with the ISY, just to see what happens. Again, this is the 2nd router I've tried.

Hello sk8er02,

Thanks so very much for the update. Apart from Internet connection issues, do you have LAN connection issues? All the errors you posted are related to ISY not being able to either write to an outbound connection (to the Internet) or read from it.

i.e. does the system still hang?

With kind regards,

Michel

I haven't been having LAN/Internet issues with everything else on my network, just the ISY.

When this happens, I can't connect to the ISY via the LAN or Internet. Since it is still running programs, some of which trigger network functions, I can assume it's not writing to the network either since it's not turning on/off my camera or adjusting the thermostat based on outdoor temp.

Hello sk8er02,

Thanks ... based on your logs, it's a guarantee that everything starts when ISY cannot contact WeatherBug and from thereon things get successively worse. I am going to add more constraints to the module infrastructure and, if you don't mind, let you try a different build. If amenable, please send me an email to tech@universal-devices.com .

FWIW, I have the weatherbug module enabled also.

When I upgraded my 99 to 15 the upgrade went through OK. But afterwards I found that my night lighting program no longer worked. It turned out that the reason was that the On % was set to 0 for all my scenes that were converted. Moving the slider to 100% made the light come on but teh scene changes dod not seem to get saved. To resolve the issue I had to remove the scenes and add them again.

I have also noticed that I can create a scene and be able to click and control each device seperately but when I turn on the scene the devices controlled by that scene do not respond- why would that be?

I had a sudden issue, all was well, all of a sudden ISY wanted to write updates to all my devices, then recieved all types of errors cannot communicate or update any devices. The newest error is failed writing highwater mark. I can querry the devices and turn them on and off using the isy. I have rebotted the isy and plm then restore. updated the isy to the current update again, cleared the jave cache. When i try to update devices it seem to go through but never clears the update icon. The system is wack now. PLM shows connected, There is obviously a connection between the isy and plm since I can turn on devices. I cannot however add new switches. The system was unchanged and working fine. When I hit update it goes 100% without a error, but still shows that it needs to be updated. Actually the only change I did make was to FINALLY add my IR Transmitter, which when I finally did add it, I could never see the codes listed that i added in the actions option. As of the moment I did a update all devices and it goes to a 100% no errors this time but still want to update.

HELP PLEASE LOL

Hi robandcathy!

Boy, this does not sound good.

But, on the upside, the problem is isolated only to those devices that have 0101 icons. How many of those do you have and where are they?

With kind regards,

Michel

Untitled.jpg The system seemed to update a portion of my devices and I dont know why? but still have issues with the other devices updating, I know about the motion sensors have not got around to that, also still cannot add new devices.

So now when I hit the link management button/start linking, the linking screen shows up for 15 seconds then disappears. I have tried several times with the same results. Correct me if Im wrongbut I remember it staying up for 4 min after each new devices is added.

Hello robandcathy,

You have very many devices that are out of synch with ISY (0101 icons). These devices must first become in synch with ISY before you can do anything else otherwise the whole system will be completely out of synch.

Have you tried moving your PLM to a different location to see if you can update those devices?

With kind regards,

Michel

tried moving plm, when i do updates get the following error:

failed writing device link

request failed

Even tried a motion sensor it failed to.

I have a access point piggy back with plm, held the motion sensor 2 feet away from acc. point and plm stilled failed to write updates.

Im at a point to wipe everything clean and start from scratch, if that is possible. Some how wipe out all my links to all my switches, wipe the isy clean and the plm. Although I would also like to know the root cause of this sudden problem. Not sure what to do? You offer awsome tech support but unfortunatly they are within my working hours. I spoke to rand briefly this a.m. and gave him my IP to remote access my ISY while im at work. I have the following problem the IP has been taken over by my home server, so what used to let me get into the ISY now directs the outside IP to my home server, is there any way to set up ISY so that Rand or Darrel can log on my ISY while im at work without disabeling my home server??? Home server uses 443 as does the isy.

Some of the devices that need updates are right next to other switches that have updated. For instance Laundry lights load and garage light are using the same wire connectors and are sitting in the same junction box, so why would one update and not the other??? if they sit touching each other.

Hi robandcathy,

At this point I have to suspect a defective PLM. What's your PLM version number? i.e. what do you see when you go to Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Status/Info.

If you open the Event Viewer to level 3, what type of traffic do you see (try querying a device)? Do you see many INST-ACKs without INST-SRX?

With kind regards,

Michel

Hello and apologies for a tardy reply.

There are only two explanations for this:

1. Defective PLM

2. Noise

I think we have ruled out #2 since you moved your PLM and you still had the same issue. If you have the same issue with all your devices, then I am almost certain you have a defective PLM.

Michel

I upgraded to 2.7.15 about 3-6 months ago. I haven't had any issue until this past week. I've had three keypadlincs suddenly just lose the backlight.

For two of them, the keypad still works everything that they were programmed to. For the third it just locked up.

I had to factory reset, then the RESTORE.

Anyone know if there are still known issues with release 2.7.15? I haven't upgraded beyond this; as, I like to wait till the beta's are done, in these production install controllers (in my house and in my client's home).

Some of my KeypadLincs do that very rarely when power drops for very short periods of time, .5 seconds to 1 second. Or cycles through several power cycles as the utility equipment automatically resets the feed that has tripped due to a temporary short (such as when a squirrel decides to touch the top of a transformer) and immediately trips again. This is definitely not an ISY issue as this has occurred before I started using an ISY.

Normally pulling the air-gap switch for 30 seconds or so will restore KeypadLinc operation.
