marksidell Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Is it possible to add a z wave device to a scene with an Insteon device as the scene controller? I was able to add a z wave device, but turning the Insteon device on and off has no effect. Insteon responders in the same scene do work.
marksidell Posted December 19, 2023 Author Posted December 19, 2023 More: I've determined the problem is that the eisy is receiving no event when I press a button on this particular keypad. More specifically, it receives events when the "main" on/off buttons are pressed, but not when one of the other four buttons is. I recently upgraded to an eisy. Is it possible the programming for this keypad didn't get set up correctly? I've tried restoring the device. That succeeded. Also, the device is able to control other Insteon devices, but of course that doesn't depend on the eisy doing anything. How can I fixe the device programming short of deleting and re-adding it?
oberkc Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I have many scenes havin insteon controllers with zwave responders so, yes, I expect it should work for you.. (Having zwave controlers with insteon responders is a different story.) it sounds to me as if you have correctly identified the failure of IoX to respond to keypad button presses as the problem. Of course, the fun part is figuring out why that is the case. Since you have restored the keypad, I would tend to minimize the possibility that corrupted link records are the problem. Is it possible that you are having communication problems between the keypad and the PLM?
jkmcfadden Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 If the z-wave keypad you are referring to is the zooz zen32, I have found no way for the 4 buttons to work in a scene. The only way I have been able to get them to respond is using a program. I posted this a while ago outlining the procedures I used to interact with the buttons.
marksidell Posted December 19, 2023 Author Posted December 19, 2023 (edited) Thanks for the responses. I am able to restore the programming of the keypad from the eisy, and do other updates, such as scene changes. So, I think the eisy is able to communicate with the keypad. The z device is a leviton plug-in dimmer. It does work in an eisy scene with a different keypad as the controller. Edited December 19, 2023 by marksidell typo 1
