Dummy devices

Can you allow us to add a device even though it doesn't exist? e.g. add a device with a fake address and set it to whatever device type you want.

 

This way we can build scenes and do many other things before actually adding the switches. After a real switch is added we can can just replace the dummy device with the real device.

 

The reason this is beneficial is because you might want to build a scene before you actually have the devices in your possession. Since it takes Smarthome over a week to deliver devices to those of us on the East coast this feature would let us get our work done ahead of time.

 

Think of this as adding a device then disabling it.

Actually, this is an excellent idea and one which are working towards. Batch feature (in the PRO series), let you do all the configuration and then write it to all devices when done. Of course, this still requires the devices to exist before hand.
