EnvisaLink-DSC: Password length limit

Featured Replies

Hi @Goose66, I installed the NS today but was having trouble connecting the NS to my EnvisaLink4.  I finally figured out that the configuration for the password seems to be limited to 6 characters.  My password was 7.  Once I shortened it by 1 character, I was good to go.

Just FYI, thanks for creating this NS, I am replacing NodeLink as operation is getting erratic.

@tmorse305 Yes, the Envisalink 3 was limited to 6 character password, but the Envisalink 4 supports 10. However, the API  specifically says that the you pass a password consisting of 6 characters. Because I only have an Envisalink 3, I was never able to send 10 characters to the password API to see if an EVL4 would accept it. More over, when initially connecting to the API of the Envisalink, we have no information whether we are talking to an EVL3 or EVL4 (nor am I aware that we ever get that information), so I wouldn't know what format to use in the API either way.

This was fixed in v3.1.9. You can put a longer password in but it will work for EVL4 only.
