Leak Sensors - SMS alert format changed

Have been using the program set up that @belias created for about four years now.

I can’t overstate my appreciation for the work that was put into this.

Recently, my SMS alerts have been showing up unformatted, so it’s very difficult to see what alert is associated with which leak sensor.

I’ve tried formatting the SMS message with colons or semicolons with no luck

Wondering if anybody knows what punctuation is required in an sms to trigger a “return”?

Thanks kindly

In your Customizations tab, set it for text. If that doesn't resolve your issue then set it for HTML and place  <BR> at the end of your sentence.

The only way to test the insteon leak sensor is from the sensor itself. You can put a wet paper towel under the sensor to trigger it. You'll then need to remove the towel and press the set button to clear the "wet on " node.

Some of the leak sensors had different firmware and may not need the button press to clear the wet node.

Ok. Thanks

Tried changing the heartbeat variable but after looking at the program details i think that takes 25 hours to trigger an alert

Other then triggering  a sensor, is there a way to send tests?

If you want to test your formatting changes only, right-click on the program name and pick "run then". If the notification is buried in a lot of code or part of multiple programs, create a temporary program with no "if" that sends the notification, and "run then" that program

I got this to work by using HTML format and putting <br/> at the end of each line. The regular text formatting changed a while ago (no idea why) and no longer inserts line returns.

@Clive AlcockOk thanks.

I'm slow to respond but will definitely try this.

Michele had responded to a ticket i had submitted and informed me this was something that would be addressed in the next release.

@Clive Alcock I'm realizing that I may have failed to offer clear details on what I was trouble shooting.

Your solution definitely gave a line break for the email based alerts.

My issue is with SMS alerts. The <br/>  does not correct the jumbling of alert content within sms.

@PB11

A lot of the carriers are either not supporting, or fully supporting, email to text or SMS coming from a device other than a smartphone.  This is most likely due to the extreme spam filters they're using.  Thus far I haven't found a workaround to correct the formatting issue..
