alsorrell Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago This is a fairly old unit (2014)which has been working great for years with a bunch of Insteon devices. Last night, I logged in successfully (been some weeks/months) and after logging in, got a whole series of messages about not being able to reach (all) devices. I took this to be a sign the Insteon 2413S PLM had died. However, I was unable to exit the program so I killed the process via Task Mangler. I cycled power on the PLM & the ISY, but when I tried to login I get 2 error messages (before getting the login prompt): Socket Open failed javanet Socket Timeout Exception XML Parse error http://192.168.1.80:80/desc (IP is that of ISY994i) Power & RCV lights are on initially, all others off; eventually RCV goes out and only Power is lit. The ISY (192.168.1.80) pings from a computer on the same subnet. Attempting to web into 192.168.1.80:80/desc from Chrome gets a 'Refused to connect'. Looking at the end of the log file on the uSD showed a whole bunch of errors at the end of the file (presumably the PLM unable to connect to devices). I was looking in the manual about how to reload the firmware on the SD card (page 78) but the web page they tell you to log into to get the procedures (universal-devices.com/994i) no longer exists. The last file that I have seems to be insteon_5.0.15A.zip; all of my most recent backups (although the newest date from 2020) begin with ISY-Backup.v5.0.15A_[DayDateTime].zip Trying to decide whether to try to get the ISY back on line and then spend $80 for a new PLM or go to a newer platform. Suggestions?? Thanks Al Quote
Techman Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Try removing power from the ISY, then remove the SD card and clean its contacts with a soft eraser. If that doesn't help then it's possible the SD card failed. Is the green led on your PLM lit? Check your ISY power supply for the correct voltage Is you Java current? You can also try clearing your java cache, be sure to check all three boxes, then download the IoX Launcher from here: https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp Let me know if any of these steps resolve youe issue. alsorrell Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Thanks for your quick reply; Java is Oracle Java 1.8.0_431-b10 which should be the latest and is the same version as used last night. Already tried cleaning contacts - no change; no light on PLM - that's why I assumed it died. After downloading new copy of JNLP, it now launches (to a new address 192.168.1.96) and gives me a box as shown, but not sure whatto do form there. Thanks Quote
Techman Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Click on the line that says ISY, that should then take you into your ISY. The fact the the led is not lit on the PLM probably means that the PLM power supply has failed. Being that the ISY is discontinuted and no longer supported you may want to consider the EISY anhd a new USB PLM from Insteon. UD Store - Universal Devices Quote
Solution Brian H Posted 6 hours ago Solution Posted 6 hours ago Try clicking on the data line it is displaying and chose of you want a LAN or cloud connection. I use LAN myself. If the LED on the side of the PLM. It is an indication it has failed. If you are handy there are repair threads on repairing them. Quote
alsorrell Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Thanks both - that worked to get the ISY working again. The program threw an error saying that the PLM was probably not reachable. Absolute Automation claims to have the PLM in stock - I just sent them a query to verify. 16 minutes ago, Brian H said: If the LED on the side of the PLM. It is an indication it has failed.
