mfbrin Posted December 7 Posted December 7 I would like to control my eisy devices with Siri. I have a Synology server and believe I can install either Homebridge or Home assistant. What is the best path forward so I can control eisy-based devices with Siri? Note, in parallel, I am running SmartThings devices on a separate system. Quote
roblombardo Posted December 8 Posted December 8 (edited) 1) Add eISY devices to home assistant through the UDI integration. 2) Install Homekit bridge in home assistant. Expose devices desired for control. 3) Use Siri for voice control. Note: As an additional benefit, if you have added a garage door opener, this will be exposed via Carplay automatically when within about 2 miles of your home! Edited December 8 by roblombardo Quote
mfbrin Posted December 9 Author Posted December 9 Thanks! I will see how hard it is to install on my NAS. Quote
roblombardo Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I originally ran my HA in a docker (they call it something else now) container on Synology. I don't remember it being to difficult to install, but that was long ago. Quote
maxnorth Posted December 9 Posted December 9 You have a choice on Synology (depending on your model) of using Docker or the Synology Virtual Machine Manager (VMM). The former is quicker and easier to install, but more laborious to update over time. The latter is harder to install but will give you access to all the features of the Home Assistant Operating System over time. (HA is improving its own voice control capability, by the way). Quote
