smarthome_newbie Posted Sunday at 01:33 PM Posted Sunday at 01:33 PM Hi. I am trying to delete a scene in admin console and am getting "request failed." This was for an open/close sensor which I removed because it wasn't working. Any idea how to remove the scene? Thanks! Quote
Techman Posted Sunday at 06:39 PM Posted Sunday at 06:39 PM Are you trying to remove a device that's within a scene or the entire scene including the device(s) within the scene or is the scene currently empty? Are your device(s) located in a folder or just in the main device tree, Quote
smarthome_newbie Posted Sunday at 08:40 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:40 PM I was trying to remove a scene that was currently empty. I just added a device to the scene to test to see if that would allow me to delete, but still getting the "request failed" message when trying to delete the scene. I have some devices in folders. Techman Posted Sunday at 09:34 PM Posted Sunday at 09:34 PM If the scene is in a folder first move it out of the folder then do a delete. Also try rebooting your ISY Quote
smarthome_newbie Posted Monday at 01:11 AM Author Posted Monday at 01:11 AM Hi. The scene is not in a folder and I just rebooted, but didn't work. Please let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks! Quote
Techman Posted Monday at 02:06 AM Posted Monday at 02:06 AM What's the name of the scene? Did you right click on the scene and then click on delete scene? Quote
smarthome_newbie Posted Monday at 04:09 PM Author Posted Monday at 04:09 PM The name of the scene is "Patio Door Sensor." Yes, I tried to right click and delete, but it says "Request Failed." So strange. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. Thanks! Quote
Techman Posted Monday at 06:47 PM Posted Monday at 06:47 PM Strange that it won't delete, it's possible that the scene is corrupted. Try renaming the scene then deleting. Quote
smarthome_newbie Posted Monday at 07:15 PM Author Posted Monday at 07:15 PM Tried that just now, but still won't delete. It's not hurting anything. Just an annoyance and curiosity why it won't delete. Quote
Techman Posted Monday at 08:33 PM Posted Monday at 08:33 PM One last thing you can try. Close the admin console and then delete the following files which are located in the windows temporary folder. They will be recreated the next time you open the admin console Quote
smarthome_newbie Posted Monday at 09:07 PM Author Posted Monday at 09:07 PM I have a Mac. Does that still apply? Quote
smarthome_newbie Posted yesterday at 03:20 PM Author Posted yesterday at 03:20 PM No luck, but thanks for trying! Quote
Techman Posted yesterday at 03:40 PM Posted yesterday at 03:40 PM One last thing you can try. For each device that was in the scene, do a restore device on each of them, then try deleting the scene. Scenes operate independently from the ISY, you could remove the ISY and the scenes would still work as the link tables for scenes reside in the scene and the devices that are, or were, in the scene. smarthome_newbie Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM Author Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM I think I was testing something when I initially created the scene. I remember removing the device in the scene completely and then adding it back. I restored the device just now, but still didn't let me delete the scene. The scene is empty now. So strange. Quote
hart2hart Posted yesterday at 06:32 PM Posted yesterday at 06:32 PM Turn on event viewer at level 3 and then remove scene. Maybe you’ll get more details in underlying issue. Quote
