Replacing Defective 2476S-Not sure option choice

Featured Replies

Still Noob at this.  Determined one switch was not operating (Front Yard - Garage SL). Tried to reset it. No luck. Bought a replacement 2477S switch. Physically removed old switch and wired in the new switch.  Now I'm trying to program it to the system.  I read the section in the cookbook but I'm not sure which of the choices I should use.  I want to keep all of the original switches, links and scenes in place, just install the one new switch into the system. I painted myself into a corner with the "Linking in Progress" forcing me to choose one option.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You'll want the first option to get it recognized by the ISY. After that you'll use the replace function... If it's a like for like switch replacement. That will add all of your configs.

The old switch and new switch will need to not be folders when the replace is performed. Afterwards, the old switch can be deleted from the ISY and the new switch placed in a folder.

For the new 2477S you want to use "remove existing links. If you have the 6 digit device address, then in the linking window enter its address. The switch will then show up in your device tree with its address

Right click on the old switch, then click on "replace with" and select the new switch. All your old switch data will be transferred to the new switch

So in the "Linking in Progress" screen I'll select "Remove existing links" and this won't affect any of the other switches, links or scenes that are already set up for other devices ?

Correct... If the new switch happened to have links in it from the factory (it happens sometimes) that method deletes them.

Then, the replace function puts links in the new switch and updates all the other switches with links to the new replacement switch
