Cannot get a virtual switch to turn on or off

Featured Replies

I am having a problem, in that when I create a virtual switch it shows up on my admin console but it shows no State and I'm unable to get it to turn on or off, using either a program or a scene. I am able to connect the switch to Alexa, and when I change the status in Alexa to on it shows the change in Alexa for a short time and then goes back to off.

It seems like I'm doing something wrong, obviously. When I created the switch I gave it a name, I added n003 _ 78 and then I added n003_controller into the appropriate boxes on the admin console.

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

thanks @Guy Lavoie ,

@DonM  there are three different ways to config virtual devices:

1. standard: the way guy shows above, which is the most simple.  put a number for the key and type of device, like switch in value

2. json: a json string which describes the devices

3. yaml: a file which describes the devices

hit the button for configuration and scroll down, it should describe all of them.

(screen shot below)

once you do that you should NOT need to do anything in the admin console to add the devices, they will be added automatically

Thanks, that's solved my problem. I realize that I would have to add them through the plug-in but not through the AC.

It's also important to note that if you were already in the Admin Console when you configured the devices in the plugin, you need to log out of Admin console and then log back in again to properly see the changes.
