MikeB Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Just received this via email: We're reaching out to let you know about changes to how Alexa works with Universal Devices, Inc. devices that connect to Alexa using the ISY Optimized for Smart Home V2 Skill. The ISY Optimized for Smart Home V2 Skill uses an outdated integration that hasn't been updated by its developer to support all of Alexa’s existing and new functionality. As a result, the Universal Devices, Inc. devices you have connected using their Alexa Skill will stop working with Alexa on November 1, 2025. This means the devices will no longer work with Alexa voice requests, Routines, or the Alexa app at that time. While no immediate action is required, we want to alert you to this upcoming change. We know how important it is to have a reliable smart home experience. Works with Alexa certified devices are designed to support Alexa's latest features and deliver the best voice control. Solution bmercier Posted August 29 Solution Posted August 29 This skill is definitely outdated. Please use "ISY Optimized for Smart Home V3". 1 Quote
mango Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Never had much luck with Alexa and ISY automation. Hit and miss. Quote
MikeB Posted August 29 Author Posted August 29 Has been working well for me for years, I definitely control my lights with Alexa more than with paddles at this point. 1 Quote
tandar Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) I got this email too but I don't know why. I didn't think I was using V2. I can't find a V2 in my Alexa skills. I only see a V3 I've got the "Optimized for Smart Home V3" skill and I just noticed I've got an "Insteon" skill. I wonder if that's the V2? Edited August 29 by tandar Quote

Paddle switches cannot set colour schemes and 5 different lighting levels using combinations of lamps and levels for various usages. When I go to bed at nights, I would have to pull chains on 15 different lamps to turn them off, or use one vocal... ....Alexa, turn off inside lights. Quote

Our Alexa works through SONOS Ones, and it's a bit clunky. Now we use Alexa very little (timers and info). Edited August 29 by mango Quote
kwmcc Posted August 30 Posted August 30 My concern was that I already have the V3 and it is enabled. I do not have Insteon enabled (as was reported by someone above). So it appears that the error message from Amazon is incorrect and was sent to everyone who used V2 in the past? 1 Quote

MikeB Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Odd, I already have V3 as well now that I checked! Quote
paulbates Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Is is possible you haven't gotten rid of older version(s)? If you have the older version of Amazon Alexa skill loaded for your Alexa, that would explain it Quote

That's also a reasonable assertion, except I ran it in the distant past and moved to v3, "un-configured" the old skill... and did not get that email I think if we have v3 running, ignore the message 1 Quote
mango Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Also, it's Amazon..... take from that what you will. Good luck everybody. 2 Quote
jca001 Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Exactly how do you check which version you are using? It has been a while since I access Amazon Alexa on the Web or my phone because I have not had a need to. This have just been working and I have not made any changes. Quote
oberkc Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Open Alexa app. On the lower left are some options that include one that is short parallel lines (settings, I assume). From there is the "skills" option. Scroll down to "my skills". Scroll until you see the universal devices skill, which should show you the version. Quote
