Accessory building on separate power meter

Greetings all

Not sure if I’m in the right form topic, but I’m hoping someone might have some insight.
I’m in the midst of building an accessory building on my property, but due to logistics our power company requires it to be on a separate meter.

Is there anyway I can have the switches and outlets in my accessory building on my current home polisy without any direct power connection?

I will have the building on the same Wi-Fi network, though I know Insteon is not Wi-Fi based.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

If you are using Insteon dual band devices (like almost all of them currently are) then they should work, since it's rf based. It depends on how far apart the two systems are, for proper communications.

@Guy Lavoie The device will all be purchased new so they will be the dual band versions.

The building will be approx 100' apart so i guess i was thinking it was too far.

@atmarosi not familiar with REST API. I've just done a quick search and read and though is something i know zero about, it seems this would need to send commands via the portal? Is this correct?

Well the REST api is when you want to go the other way: from an external device, computer, etc TO the polisy.

Your initial post is about having the polisy send commands to the devices in the new building, over wifi. Assuming you want to control simpler things like lights or appliances, using devices that support Matter would probably be the most straightforward way to do that. If you use wifi based Matter devices (ie: not Thread) then your polisy should be able to do that already, if it is running IoX 5.9.1. Matter is still in beta development, so some testing would be required. Otherwise, you could use other IP based devices with an open protocol, and control them via a plugin if there is one, or using Network module commands.
