June 17Jun 17 Nearby lightening strike knocked out my 15yr+ old GTO 2000xls pro opener and my 2 yr old I/o link. Have been Using the relay side to open/close the gate from UD MOBILE and using sensor to turn lights on for the carport and driveway. New GTO board doesn't have a N/O dry relay. I replaced both fried items, but my io link sensor doesn't ever change state (relay works fine). So , the program to turn on lights doesn't execute( see attachments for connection). ChatGPT suggests that I add a 12 vdc relay module in between the GTO board and the I/o link. So I'm thinking that I should buy the Aediko relay and power it from the gate lock contacts and use its n/o relay to create sense that the gate I has been powered from off to on (see attachments). Does that make sense to you?Final question: Given this is the 2nd time a lightening strike has fried my I/o link and gate board, would placing a ground rod on my gate do any good? My electrician thinks the aluminum posts, sunk 4 ft into ground should suffice. IDK, lightening keeps frying this equipment??! Aediko_Relay.pdf GTO2000xls_Outputs.pdf
June 17Jun 17 If commands are reaching the gate, but not the other way around, I would try right clicking on the device and pick restore device in iox
June 17Jun 17 I'm not sure this is helpful, but you can use 2 outdoor on/off modules to control a linear actuator.Scroll down to see my post here: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/45156-seeking-advice-on-controlling-linear-actuator/#comment-394531Turn on the first module, the gate opens. Turn on the second module, the gate closes. Turn them both on (or off), nothing happens.Ross
June 17Jun 17 Author Thanks Paul for the suggestion - tried it no luv. The sense side of the I/O link is not getting an on/off message from the gate board. The gate lock terminals are sending constant 12v rather than toggling open/close.Not sure my current plan would change things by addition of a dry relay. The lock terminals will simply supply power. I need to connect something from the gate board that tells it to change state when the gate is opening/closing Edited June 17Jun 17 by shergenr Clarity
