Problem with initial linking of KeypadLinc v1.5?

Featured Replies

Hey guys -

Has anyone installed a KeypadLinc v1.5 yet?

I usually add devices to my ISY-26 via the 'New Insteon Device' option, and simply type the address.

I just installed a new KeypadLinc v1.5, and despite trying several times, the ISY-26 kept coming back with a 'Request Failed' error. I almost gave up, but I tried the 'Start Linking' option instead, and the KPL added fine to the ISY-26.

I went ahead and created all my links, and other than the initial discovery it seems to be working great.

Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

When you use 'New Insteon Device', we send out an Insteon 'ID Request' to the device you specified. The device should return its type/subtype/firmware level, if it does not, you will get a request failed message (because we don't know type of device it is).

If this happens, then you must link the device manually using the 'Start Linking' option.

Ahhh, I see - thanks.

So, is this a known issue with the KPL v1.5?

If you need any info from me on it, let me know...

Same thing here. New v1.5 received today and I too got the "Request Failed" message after adding via "New Insteon Device"

Apparently the 1.5's have a whole new batch of quirks. :) whoohoo!

I had the same experience! Couldn't add it manually, had to use start linking. KPL's always keep it interesting.
