Internet access?

Featured Replies

My ISY is connected to a Linksys router which in turn is connected to a Qwest Broadbank modem. When I request a Self Signed certificate the IP address that pops up is a local one. I went to the websites listed in the procedure and foun the IP for the Qwest modem. I entered that and the reboot messsage came up. How do I verify that all is correct as far as the IP address is concerned and that I can access through the internet?

I did as you suggested but the site requires a user name and password. I tried all that I use but no luck. Any suggestions?

Hello Michel-

I haven't made any changes to a port. It is listed as 443. Now I cannot access the port using the IP address received from Whatismy ipaddress. Is it possible that the Qwest modem, which is in series with the Linksys router is the problem? Even though the modem has only one RJ-45 outlet should I consider plugging in a one to two RJ-45 splitter and plug the ISY directly into the modem? I doubt that I could access the ISY using that configuration.

Hello rtt3821,

No, please do not connect ISY directly to the modem.

What you want to do is port forward ISY's HTTPS port (default is 443) on your Linksys router to point to ISY's IP address.

You will find detailed instructions here:

If you are still experiencing problems, please do give our tech support a call and we'll walk you through it.

With kind regards,

Michel

One other thing to consider especially if you are trying to access your public facing (ie extremal) ip address, make sure that there aren't filters that maybe forbidding access to external NAT'ed address from internal clients.
