Trouble Connecting and Unifi Protect API beginnings

Featured Replies

Am having trouble connecting to my UCGF. It keeps connecting and then disconnecting. It appears to be a firewall issue with my UCGF. The eisy is on my Iot Vlan which i generally block access to port 443 from devices on IOT. But i created a device level allow between the eisy and the ucgf - still get the connect and disconnects. I even paused the zone block from the Iot Vlan and got same issue. Any ideas?

By the way I'm totally new to PG3 so not sure if there is something I have missed there. Thanks in advance for any help!

Symptoms: kept getting UDMobile notifications in pairs when ever i restarted the in pg3x: Connected....Disconnected.

I had created the API key in Unifi and entered the information including gateway IP in PG3x configuration. Seemed pretty straight forward. My Firewall was configured with the IP Gateway (UCGF is both my gateway and NVR) in the Management Vlan (mVlan) and Eisy is located in IOT Vlan (iVlan). First issue I had was a zone rule blocking iVlan from Gateway zone ports 22/80/443. I fixed this by putting in a higher priority polisy allowing the Eisy IP to connect to the gateway's port 443. After a few missteps I got the rules sorted - I thought the unifi log refreshed automatically as new information comes in and didn't realized I had fixed the port issue... stoopid I know. However, even having fixed the firewall rules it didn't fix the problem. So I started going down other rabbit holes still believing it was some sort of rules issue.

Finally, chatgpt lead me to the right place - either my Unifi API key was either corrupt or wrong. It advised recreating a new one which I did and it now has successfully connected. Odd thing about the new API Key - it didn't seem to ask me which Unifi application it was for, I could have sworn the first one asked and I had selected both Protect and Network not knowing which to select. Perhaps this was the source of corruption or perhaps not.

Anyway, wanted to move this topic and update it from the developers original posting/topic. Thought I would include my journey for other newbies to PG3x and Unifi ProtAPI.

I have the same situation with Eisy on my IoT Vlan. Just took a look at my zone firewall settings. Without seeing yours , I really just have that vlan able to get to external and gateway. I have a UDM pro max gateway.

Nice, thanks for the update. Give yourself a solve for that one !
