fuzzersteve Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I kep getting too busy, but I need help.... I keep losing "contact" with my ISY-991/pro. The only way I can restore communication is with a factory reset. I perform a factory reset, resetup my deviecs (only a few for now) and everything works for a few days then i lose communcation and automation stops.... Any ideas?
Brian H Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Are any of the LEDs, other than the Green PWR LED, flashing or on steady? Can you get into the Administrative Screen? If so. Tools Diagnostics PLM Info/Status See what it indicates.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hello fuzzersteve, If the only way to get the system to continue working is factory reset, then I suspect that you have a program in there that's causing an infinite loop. Would you please disable all your programs are retry? With kind regards, Michel
fuzzersteve Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Brian...solid green pwr light Michael... whenever I factory reset I have to reprogram, I have done this at least 3 time since june. I only have 2 switches and am only turning them on and off with at dusk and dawn....
Michel Kohanim Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hi fuzzersteve, I understand but, unfortunately, we do not have enough information to figure out what's causing the issue. Please do be kind enough to let me know: 1. By factory reset, what are you actually factory resetting? ISY? PLM? The switches? All? Any combination there of? 2. What do you mean by losing contact? You cannot find it on the network? What URL do you normally use to access your ISY? The more information we have the higher the likelihood of finding the cause. With kind regards, Michel
fuzzersteve Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 Specifically I'm talking about the ISY. I have performed a reset on the ISY several time, with the same result. As for losing communication...I mean when I click the ISY link...http://www.universal-devices.com/99i... the Administrative Console opens up, but it is a generic console. It does not prompt me to login. I've also tried to access it via IP, same result
Michel Kohanim Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hello fuzzersteve, Thanks so very much. Can you tell me whether or not you are using static IP address for your ISY or if you have made reservations in your router. Factory reset does change the network settings (i.e. goes back to DHCP) so we need to see how you have setup your networking. With kind regards, Michel
fuzzersteve Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 I orginally set it up for static IP. i am able to determine the current IP address. I tried connecting thru the web browser, it prompted for usr/pwd. i connected, if I click "administrative console" it fails... I did clear JAVA and it still failed... Michel Kohanim Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Hello fuzzersteve, Thank you! This specific error means two things: 1. Either the firmware was not installed properly 2. Something is wrong with the SD Card Would you be kind enough to try and install 2.8.2 firmware ( http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=5037 ) by using the following URL: http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/admin.jnlp If you are still having issues, please contact our tech support team so that we can pinpoint the problem. Rest assured that we'll either find the problem or send you a replacement unit. With kind regards, Michel
fuzzersteve Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 For a minute there I thought we had it...but I got an error So, i used telnet and formatted the SDcard, (I think), then tried it again. This time around I clicked "Add" after clicking ok at the "not found" prompt and was able to add and log in there. I downloaded and then upgraded the firmware to the latest, but am still unable to log in thru "http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/". But I can access once I get the "not found" error... so this is where I'm at....
Michel Kohanim Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Hello fuzzersteve, Thanks so very much for the update. I must say that I do not think factory reset is actually fixing the issue. I think factory reset is simply making your ISY use DHCP ... are you changing the network settings from DHCP to something else after factory reset? Now, Not Found means that the Admin Console sent a discovery message on the network and didn't get anything back. Now, since you can use the Add function and connect directly, it means that ISY is accessible via the network but just NOT discoverable. Would you be kind enough to let me know what firewall software you have? Also, is it possible to put your ISY in the white/trusted list in your firewall? And, finally, please DO NOT factory reset your ISY the next time this happens. Instead, please go to Configuration | System tab and make sure ISY is on DHCP. With kind regards, Michel
fuzzersteve Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Michael, Thanks for the help.... Only using windows firewall on the system i am trying to access the ISY from.... I need to verify if it is still a ststic IP or not..... Steve
fuzzersteve Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 enabled DHCP.....could not connect except after the "not found" error... lucky my router config page shows connected device so i can get the IP turned off windows firewall on laptop, no change.....
Michel Kohanim Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Hello fuzzersteve, So, basically, you can get to ISY using direct IP but it cannot be discovered, correct? As much I as know this is not a hardware issue, please send an RMA request to sales@universal-devices.com and we'll send you a replacement. With kind regards, Michel
