andrewm Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I just did a re-org of my 50+ devices into folders under 2.8.1 and wanted to feedback some usability improvements: 1) Allow device / scene rename using F2. This shortcut key is allowed in the Program Details screen, but not the devices screen. Allowing it makes the operation more consistent (=usability). It also reduces likelihood of error, such as when I clumsily hit the wrong item in the right-click menu and ended up deleting the device instead of renaming it! 2) Controllers in scenes should by default use the scene settings. I would thing that the vast majority of times, a controller in a scene should use the same settings as the scene itself, yet whenever you add a new controller to a scene you have to remember to go back to it and say "copy scene attributes". Similarly if you make changes to scene attributes, you then have to remember to go to the individual controllers and re-copy the scene attributes. I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten to do one or both of these, and as I say I think this type of operation is the norm rather than exception. It would also save time in terms of all the links that have to be changed. I could understand the need to maybe make it a preference, either globally or per-device (eg "inherit scene attributes"). 3) Devices within scenes need to show their full hierarchical name, as they do in other places within ISY (eg "Folder/Subfolder/device" - or maybe for compact presentation purposes in the Left hand pane "device (folder/subfolder)"). This is needed because without this you still have to include additional info in your device name in order to identify it within a scene. For example a device would current show as the ambiguous "KeyA", as opposed to "LivingRoom / Int Keypad / KeyA).
