Random KPL programming issues

This may be what's causing my issues with my alarm system. Do you have to repair the device before running the diagnostics on it?

Hi ryarber,

IMHO I do not think this is the cause of your problems. I think the main problem with your system is that the PLM does not have enough time to activate multiple scenes especially if too many devices are in each scene.

In any case, I am not sure what you mean by repairing the device. INSTEON devices are not field repairable/upgradeable and the only way to fix any issues is to have them replaced.

With kind regards,

Michel

So I did a factory reset on the KPL. Show Device Links showed the table as empty so I did a Restore Device on it. Afterwards, Show Device Links Table followed by Compare showed the first 43 records as [identical] and the next 20 items as [Extra Record]. Functionally the KPL turns on/off the right scenes but there are extra devices affected that should not be. I presume these are defined in these "Extra Records" but have no idea why Restore Device would be loading this extra information.

Any ideas? A broken KPL is acceptable, but just doesn't feel quite right.

Thanks!

Hi Bruce,

Factory reset must clear all the entries in the KPL. It seems that it's not clearing the extra records at the end.

If other devices are responding to the same KPL button, in all likelihood they also have extra records that should not be there. So, the first thing I would do is to do a Restore Device on them (that's why they respond to your KPL).

Did you use the crawl function to bring in your existing links/devices? If so, how many of your devices exhibit the same behavior? If many, then what I would humbly suggest is to find one which has the least number of links to anything else, remove it from ISY, do a factory reset on it, add it back to ISY, and do the compare function again. If this also fails (you still have extra records), then there's a very high likelihood that you have a defective switch.

With kind regards,

Michel
