Deadbolt

I have 3 Kwikset ZWave Motorized Deadbolt installed in my house. Only after installing them I actually realized that these had the potential to be controlled remotely. For this I believe I need some kind of wireless card to plug in the deadbolt. What exactly do I need and will I be able to control it try my ISY and Insteon switches.

Currently I have no Zwave products except the deadbolts. So there no way to integrate with ISY

Could the ISY send commands to a networked Z Wave device to control the Deadbolts? Maybe using the networking module? I am seriously interested if so...

Thanks for the reply but could you expand on your answer. As a newbie what do i need to get this to work

Hello raptor,

Unfortunately I cannot help you with getting ZWave devices network enabled. There are many ZWave controllers out there which allow you network access to ZWave devices but since I have not used any, I would not be able to make any recommendations.

As far as ISY side, you would need the Network Module (Help | Purchase Modules). Once you have the network module installed, then you can create rules that call network resources (such as TCP, HTTP/S, UDP, etc.). All you have to do is to call a resource on a ZWave controller to control that device.

With kind regards,

Michel
