Unfortunately, when using the local switch, ISY does not properly report state change. Or is this because the OutletLinc is not reporting local state change?

Thanks,

There is no 'report local state change' message in the Insteon vocabulary. Insteon Controllers send control signals to linked devices and responders acknowledge control signals and can reply with their current status

Like the ApplianceLinc, the Icon Dimmer Module, the Icon On/Off Module, and the larger LampLincs, the OutletLinc is a responder only, not a controller. Responder-only devices don't send a control message if you used the on-device button or Local Control to change its state.

If you turn it on or off using a device linked through the ISY as a Controller to the outlet, then the ISY will update the status when it receives that control signal. If you are trying to track energy consumption and are concerned that users may try to 'cheat' the tracking by not using the linked controller, another option is to Query the outlet directly every few minutes for current status.

The 2473S Outletlinc has a local on/off toggle button between the two outlets.

The 2473S Outletlinc shows up as a light without a local control like a wired switch relay, thus it cannot be added as a controller for example other lights, or in my case another 2473S Outletlinc for my kitchen under/over cabinet lighting. When the local switch is used even a query will not report correct status from my experience.

The question is as follows:

Is this a limitaiton of the 2473S outletlinc hardware or the ISY software does not properly identify the device as a light with a local switch similar to a wired realy switch?

I would like to be able to make at least one of the two 2473S outletlincs a controller for my kitchen scene so i don't have to manually turn two of them on. Simiar to a virtual 3 way switch in a stairwell, which I have sucessfully done using the wired relay switches.

The OutletLinc hardware/firmware has NO controller capability. It cannot notify another Insteon device it has been turned On/Off locally. Same as the ApplianceLinc.

EDIT: generally this can be determine by reviewing the device Quick Start guide and/or online User Guide on the Smarthome web site. Only if it has instructions for linking the device as a Controller of another Insteon device can it be a Controller. That lack of instructions on how to link it as a Controller indicates it has NO controller capability.

EDIT2: The KeypadLinc approach is a common solution. It allows control of the load that was controlled from that location as well as 4 (6 button) or 7 (8 button) additional devices and/or Scenes.

I guess one option is to install a keypadlinc to allow control of for example my kitchen flood lights and use the other buttons for scene control which then controls the outletlincs

Thanks.
