jca001 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I would like the All On and All Off to be a condition for devices that have them. The justification is so programs can do additional things when the button is pressed. I looked at the event viewer and can see an DFOF and DFON event but the GUI does not have an option to use it. Example: I have a RemoteLinc in the Living room that controls 3 different light, one of which is controlled by a MD. When we watch TV I press the All Off button and all lights turn off as they should. But when there is motion, one of the lights comes back on as it should. If the All Off condition could be in an IF condition, I could run the THEN part of a program that is used as variable to disable turning on the light. Then when the light is turned ON or OFF by any button, that event would change the state of the program variable so the MD could control the light again. If there is some other ways to accomplish this please let me know.
Goose66 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 This would apply to the ControlLinc as well. These devices do send a very specific command for All On/All Off (group 255, I believe). It would be nice to capture it. Perhaps the easiest thing would be to have the ISY add a device in the tree for "All" for these devices along with the devices for the individual buttons. So for a ControlLinc you would have 'My ControlLinc - 1', 'My ControlLinc - 2', etc. and 'My ControlLinc - All'. You could then have "IF Control 'My ControlLinc - All' is switched On" for example.
jca001 Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 I was hoping someone from UD would have some comments about my request. Can it be done? If so will it be put on the so low on the list of things to do, it will never get done?
Michel Kohanim Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Hello Mr. Allen, It's already on our requirements list with low priority. With kind regards, Michel
Goose66 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Is there anyway to "force" a device in the tree not from a template? In other words, is there anyway to create a generic device and tell it that the address is XX.XX.XX and the group is 255 in order to force the device to correspond to All On/All Off buttons on the RemoteLincs/ControlLincs?
jca001 Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 Thanks Michel. Hopefully it will bubble up to the top to be worked on in not too distant future.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Mr. Allen, I hope so too! With kind regards, Michel

After looking through the UDI interface, the answer appears to be no. I still think a separate device in the UDI tree for these All-On/All-Off buttons is the way to go.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Hi kingwr, You are correct. A virtual device would not work because even All on/off command should be tied to a source with a valid INSTEON id otherwise the PLM would not process them (and thus we won't hear them). With kind regards, Michel
Goose66 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 But the device would have the valid address of the RemoteLinc or ControlLinc, right? It would just have a different group code, similar to how the different buttons for a ControlLinc are in the device tree today.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Hi kingwr, That would make sense, yes. But I think it would be easier to just add support for All On/Off on RL and CL instead. With kind regards, Michel
jca001 Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 It has been over a year. Any update on where this enhancements is on the todo list?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Mr. Allen, Back at the bottom unfortunately. With kind regards, Michel
