clockwrkz Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Hi, I just installed a MorningIndustry deadbolt and MorningLinc controller. The MorningLinc is paired with the door. If I press the set button on the MorningLinc it will lock or unlock the door. With some searching I found out how to find the MorningLinc with the Admin Console for the ISY-99i (I`m using the latest version which was released earlier this week). There are 2 devices which appear under `My Lighting` called `Front Lock-on` and `Front Lock-off`. (The names were the device id which is 16 84 82-on and 16 84 82-off) When I press On or Off in the admin console the Current State changes from Locked to Unlocked in the admin console. Which is where the problem happens. The physical lock on the door is not receiving these commands and never moves. Therefore I`m assuming the MorningLinc is not receiving the commands. I know that communication is one way so I`m not surprized that the Current Status changes even though the lock doesn`t move. Here is the information from the Event Viewer when I pressed On: Wed 02/09/2011 07:01:05 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 16.84.82 0F 11 FF 06 LTONRR (FF) Wed 02/09/2011 07:01:05 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 16.84.82 0F 11 FF 06 LTONRR (FF): Process ACK: duplicate ignored Wed 02/09/2011 07:01:05 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 16.84.82 13.22.7C 2B 11 FF LTONRR (FF) Wed 02/09/2011 07:01:05 PM : [standard-Direct Ack][16.84.82-->ISY/PLM Group=0] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Wed 02/09/2011 07:01:05 PM : Duplicate: ignored Wed 02/09/2011 07:01:05 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 16.84.82 13.22.7C 2B 11 FF LTONRR (FF): Process Message: failed Wed 02/09/2011 07:01:05 PM : [standard-Direct Ack][16.84.82-->ISY/PLM Group=0] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 It looks like there are some clues in there but not sure where to go from here. `Process Message: failed` seems rather ominous for example. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
clockwrkz Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 For what it's worth, I tried deleting the device from the admin console and readding it (to the same result). I've also power cycled everything. Michel Kohanim Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Hello clockwrkz, I do think that the problem is with your MorningLinc; the reason is that ISY can communicate with it and MorningLinc is responding back to ISY. So, the communications are working properly. Somehow, these communications are not initiating a command to the door lock. The next thing to try is to factory reset your MorningLinc and then restore it from ISY. With kind regards, Michel
clockwrkz Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Hi Michel, Thank you very much for your response and help. Hello clockwrkz,The next thing to try is to factory reset your MorningLinc and then restore it from ISY. I tried the above mention idea. I removed the MorningLinc from the admin console, reset it to factory defaults, paired it with the lock again, confirmed it could unlock/lock the door, went to "Start Linking" in the admin console and linked it with the ISY-99i again. I have the same results as before. I press "On" or "Off" for that device and it does not lock or unlock the door. I have 3 MorningLincs here I am planning to install so I opened a second, new box and tried that one. I had the same results as above again. Just in case it helps, here is the log of adding the brand new MorningLinc to the ISY-99i: Thu 02/10/2011 08:09:49 AM : [LNK-BGN ] 02 64 01 00 06 Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:06 AM : [LNK-STAT ] 02 53 M(01) gid=00 16.84.0F 0F06 3A Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:06 AM : Linked: Linked 16.84.0F.00 type=0F.06.3A Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:06 AM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 16.84.0F 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:07 AM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 16.84.0F 13.22.7C 2B 28 0F SET-MSB(0F) Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:07 AM : [standard-Direct Ack][16.84.0F-->ISY/PLM Group=0] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:07 AM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 16.84.0F 0F 2B F8 06 PEEK (F8) Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:07 AM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 16.84.0F 13.22.7C 2B 2B A2 PEEK (A2) Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:07 AM : [standard-Direct Ack][16.84.0F-->ISY/PLM Group=0] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Thu 02/10/2011 08:10:07 AM : [16 84 F 1 ] MorningLinc database accessible. Michel Kohanim Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Hello clockwrkz, As per instructions here: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... orningLinc It's very important for you to choose the 3rd option when you get the Linking Dialog. If you don't, nothing will work. Please repeat the factory reset, removal from ISY, and adding back in but make sure you use the 3rd option. With kind regards, Michel
clockwrkz Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Thank you! That was exactly the issue.... sorry, I should have seen that one! Out of curiosity, why does it create 2 devices... -On and -Off? They seem to function the same to me but I'm assuming there is a reason for both. Thank you again.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Hi clockwrkz, I am glad it worked. The reaso for two nodes is because that's how SmartLabs defined the on/off groups for ML. If you are not going to use them in scenes, then they are identical. With kind regards, Michel
ssingh1234 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Hi clockwrkz, I am glad it worked. The reaso for two nodes is because that's how SmartLabs defined the on/off groups for ML. If you are not going to use them in scenes, then they are identical. With kind regards, Michel I'm having a similar issue. I had it detected in ISY-99ir no problem before but it wasn't working for me. Now the morninglinc module won't even get detected in ISY. I am using release 2.8.16. Should I be upgrading to a BETA release? The odd thing is that at least before the ISY was detecting the morninglinc but now it's not even seeing it. Even if I enter the info manually it won't find it. I've tried 2 morninglinc modules with the same result - doesn't show up in ISY. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! [update] - I just tried the latest firmware to no avail. I also factory reset the PLM as well as the ISY-99IR but for some reason none of my morninglincs are being found.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hello ssingh1234, Just to be certain, did you follow the instructions here: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... orningLinc ? It's very important that you choose the 3rd option otherwise everything will be removed. With kind regards, Michel
ssingh1234 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hello ssingh1234, Just to be certain, did you follow the instructions here: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... orningLinc ? Although I have to say that I had the morninglinc detected when I first started with ISY and I did not select the 3rd option. Then I reset the ISY. After that I couldn't get it detected. Then, I tried a 2nd morninglinc (fresh new) and I couldn't get that detected. Any ideas?
Michel Kohanim Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hello ssingh1234, Unfortunately I am out of ideas except: 1. Please factory reset the one that used to work when you used option 1 2. Make sure you are within a range of an access point 3. The actual door lock is close to ML With kind regards, Michel

The actual door lock is close to ML With kind regards, Michel I didn't do anything today and just happened to try and re-link the morninglinc this morning before heading into work and it miraculously found it. Odd - thanks for all your help.
