kd7iyt Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I can currently set and disarm my Elk M1 Gold manually via the ISY interface. I'm wondering if it is possible to have a program within the ISY set my alarm automatically. Is that possible? I would really love to be able to set the alarm based on the status of a device within a certain time frame.
Michel Kohanim Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Hello kd7iyt, Not yet but we are working on enhanced ELK module which should provide you with that functionality. With kind regards, Michel
brad77 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 kd7iyt- In the meantime, it is possible to do this using the Network module using the method outlined in this post. It's a bit technical, but once set it up, you can arm, disarm, and fire other ELK functions using programs. The CRC calculator has moved to the Support Tools section of Elk's owner portal and is now called the M1 Software Developer's Tool.
io_guy Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I was bored so I took a look at the Elk RS-232 ascii protocol. Michel, If this is what you're using to create your Elk module (interfacing over RS-232 via a serial-ethernet converter) then you are 90% of the way there to interface with DSC alarms as well. DSC's protocol is similar and in my opinion, less complicated.
Michel Kohanim Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Hello io_guy, Yes, that's what we are using and it's excellent that we could reuse the same code for DSC! We'll surely contact you as soon as we are ready to support DSC (if you don't mind). With kind regards, Michel
