Can someone describe what the beep duration does on the new SwitchLincs? It doesn't matter what beep duration I set all I get is a very quick beep.

Beep duration isn't actually supported on SwitchLincs. HouseLinc accomplishes different beep durations by sending a stream of beeps rather than adjusting the length of a single sound.

So the beep duration setting on ISY is just decoration? I also noticed that nothing seemed to change with different settings.

The hardware does not react to the beep duration setting. As Insteon hardware evolves over time perhaps it will someday.

Variable-length beeps are available on the IRLincs, SynchroLincs and iMeter Solo devices, but only single-length beeps are available on switches and keypads.

I'm curious how loud the beeps for SwitchLincs should be. I only have one dual band SL installed, and unless we're right beside it when it beeps, it's hardly noticeable.

Mine are very quiet also. I think they're more for alerts when programming the devices manually when you're standing right in front of them.

Thanks. The beep function could be much more useful if it were loud enough to be heard from the next room. I had initially set up a beep alert when the driveway flood light sensor was triggered but it's just not loud enough to be of much use for that purpose.

You could always install the Insteon Chime kit. I'm thinking about it.
