Kentinada Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 If I have a traditional sprinkler system today with its own stand-alone controller but want to integrate the system with my ISY-99i, I think I need to add an EZFlora device. But I can't tell how connect it. I assume my stand-alone controller would have to come out. Does anyone know of a good setup guide/tutorial somewhere I can read?
LeeG Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Yes, the Zone valve connections would be moved from the existing controller to the EZFlora. The EZFlora supports 8 Zones. The UDI Wiki has a discussion of a sample set of ISY Programs for controlling the EZFlora zones. Basic Zone control is as simple as using an ISY Program to turn On/Off an EZFlora Zone at a particular time. The Zones can be turned On/Off through the Admin Console, just as lighting can be turned On/Off. Note that one Zone can be turned On at a time. Turning On a Zone turns Off any other Zone that may have been On.
paulw Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I ran my EZflora in parallel with the existing controller without any problems. I just removed the programming from the rainbird controller. It was easier, at the time, for my wife to do some quick watering from the rainbird. We pump from a creek which is fresh water, but is also tide effected so I can't irrigate on a fixed schedule as at low tide my pickup is out of water. The old controller in time died, so now the EZflora is the one and only. Have had no issues with it. If you don't have the manual for your existing system, look around on on-line. That should help you identify the wiring. Once you have that, you should be able to match it up to the documentation for the EZFlora. Paul
