johnnyt Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Hi, Would it be possible to make the PLM replacement routine self activate? With only one PLM per system couldn't ISY just make the assumption that putting in a new PLM requires the running of "Restore PLM" routine? I guess I see this as a step toward a day when the s/w is "self healing" when it comes to replacing hardware. I know that might far off for something like replacing one of many light switches - although I'm hoping someone's working on this - but with only one PLM per system, it would seem relatively easy to take that one step today. (fully realizing things always seem easier from where I sit than they really are.) Thanks for considering it.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Hello johnnyt, That would be lovely! Technically, 100% feasible but there may be other problems such as corrupted file system which make this routine a little more complicated. Furthermore, while the PLM is being replaced, almost all other tasks stop so it might become too intrusive. But, we would certainly size the effort and see if can include it in any of our releases. With kind regards, Michel
