ELA Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I noticed that a Lamplinc, that I was using as part of small isolated network test, would send messages upon being powered up. A Switchlinc, also part of the three device network test did not send any messages on power up. This was unexpected for me. I did a factory reset on the Lamplinc, thinking the messages had to do with being linked to other devices? After the reset it no longer sent messages on power up. I have been looking to get a better understanding of what these messages are? I am still fairly new to some of the Insteon message types. I am familiar with direct messages where you can send and get responses to them and the broadcast message concept. I am not that familiar with data base links and group messaging. The PLM in the test system was not sending or requesting any information and the two were not linked. There is a small chance that the switchlinc was linked to the Lamplinc but I am not sure. I will interrogate it later if I need to. I thought maybe this was an easy answer for some of you here and hoped I could save some testing. Note the Lamplinc is a dual band device in case that has anything to do with it.
LeeG Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 ELA Perhaps something to do with load sensing sending a message the LampLinc turned On because the load was ON (a guess). Have the Event Viewer running with Device communications events selected and plug in LampLinc. I can interpret the messages if anything does appear in the event log that is not understood. Lee
ELA Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 Thanks LeeG, That sounds most likely and I will assume that was the case for now. This was a distraction from other work I was doing. Thanks for saving me the time.
Brian H Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I remember a post indicating that the latest LampLincs would report Local Sensing changes. Probably the dual band ones would do the same thing.
ELA Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 I had to relink this device to my home network PLM and monitored the message. It as a group broadcast -"All-Linked" message reporting the on/off status followed by the cleanup message.
