rlebel
Anybody have any experience (good or bad) with these?
apostolakisl
I have some cree lr6's. They work just fine with Insteon. The lr6 has perfect color temp at full brightness but when the dim they don't turn orange so it is a bit odd. Also the dimming range is not normal and they don't dim all the way before the click off. Rob
I have 5 CR6's in the kitchen that have worked great. Instant on and have a fairly linear dim down to ~5% or so. They don't grow warmer (orange) as they dim, but then again no LED is going to. I happen to like the effect. They're only $40 at Home Depot now so pick one up and try it out before replacing a lot of them. I put one in next to a standard incadescent and couldn't notice a difference. I eventually replaced the entire kitchen.

I eventually replaced the entire kitchen. I did just that. Compared to the LR6 the dimming is better. It doesn't click on/off at the 10% level, it nearly dims to completely off. The color isn't quite as good as the lr6. To my eye, I consider the lr6 to be a perfect match as far as color compared to incandescent (at full on). The cr6 has a hint of pink to it. The price is a lot better than the lr6, less than half. The hours on the lr6 are supposedly 50k vs 35k on the cr6. We'll see. Having said that, I went ahead and ordered 16 of them on ebay ($37ea) and will put them in my highest use fixtures. The electrical savings and the reduced ac load should make it a good deal. CREE is probably the most respected name in LED so I feel pretty good about it. My lr6 has been in place for well over a year and has given me no trouble.
