mitch236 Posted October 25, 2011 Share Posted October 25, 2011 Since I'm not a programmer I'm not sure how to explain this but I would like it if I could install and run a program from within the ISY. Right now I'm using a program written by io_guy to allow communication between my DSC alarm and the ISY. Unfortunately, for the program to update the ISY, it has to be running on a PC which has to be on 24/7 and logged into (because the program can't be made to run as a service). It would be much better if I could somehow install the program into the ISY so it would run with the ISY and I wouldn't need to have it installed on a PC. If this is possible, I would think that would open up a whole world of improvements for third party programs that interface with the ISY like Mobilinc (which I also use). What do you think? apostolakisl Posted October 25, 2011 Share Posted October 25, 2011 What you are asking for is a "module". Like the weatherbug module. It would have to be written into the firmware of the ISY. Or, the network module could be upgraded to allow for two way communication. I have also read on the forum that the Elk module may work with other brands (like dsc) in the future. Link to comment
