Any updates on new PLM or KPL?

Anyone have any news on the new PLM?

With considerable effort and tuning, my network is now about 95% but still has comms problems. Only between the PLM/ISY to the network. All end devices work properly. (or within normal defects...)

I sure hope SM gets the PLM fixed, would make the ISY a MUCH better product....

I am swapping one of my two dead PLM's with SH. When I spoke with them before doing the RMA they stated there were no changes to the PLM and CS had no knowledge of any upcoming changes (but that is par for the course with SH). I am still waiting for the replacement PLM but hopefully it will be this week or next. I am waiting on the second one in case they do come out with a better one.

Hello jcthorne,

What version of the PLM do you have?

With kind regards,

Michel

How does one tell? There does not seem to be a sticker on the PLM indicating the revision of the firmware. Is there an ISY command or log file that would show it?

jcthorne,

It all depends on your configuration. If you have X10 devices or SimpleHomeNet devices I strongly suggest getting the latest PLM.

Mine is Firm 52, Rev 2.4 Does that mean much WRT the comms issues?

I called SmartHome and asked for an exchange of my PLM and they told me unless there was a specific problem with the one I have that is corrected in a newer release, that they were unwilling to exchage.

Is there a specific issue that I can point to to get it exchanged or should I just wait unitl the unit with the larger database become available?

I do have one x-10 appliance module in a very difficult to reach place up in my attic. It controls the drop down screen for my home theater. Has been up there for a number of years and works fine so have been in no hurry to replace it.

I use an IR543 for IR control and have the ISY listen for the x10 signals and send Insteon ones. Pretty simple translation. Since I only have 6 or 7 commands that I wanted IR for, was a pretty cheap solution vs the IRlinc.

Or am I missing something? For what I am currently doing, do you think my PLM is really a source of difficulty? I'd just as soon wait unit Smarthome actually fixes issues I am having before getting a replacement. I already have pretty regular RMAs with them for other Insteon device issues....
