What does RED in the My Lighting listing mean?

I'm still just getting started on installing and programming my Insteon devices, but after moving my ISY / PLM to another outlet, suddenly all the devices in the My Lighting listing show RED rather than BLUE (except an ApplianceLink that was recently added). I can't find any reference to what RED vs BLUE means in the manual. I do note that two RED devices aren't reflecting the correct current state of the devices -- two LampLinc modules were turned ON by a program (which worked fine), but their state still shows OFF in the Admin console display.

The node name being Red indicates a Controller, a blue node name indicates a Responder. A Controller node can also function as a Responder if the hardware has the capability. A Red ! to the left of the node name indicates the ISY PLM is having problems communicating with the device.

Could be a problem with the Dual Band devices that are coupling the 120V phases. Could be something on the circuit where the PLM is now plugged causing interference.

Hi Lee, thanks. But in the My Lighting menu, ALL items are RED, both controller (only a RemoteLinc) and the two LampLincs. Under the Scene menu, the controllers are red, responders blue. There aren't any !'s anywhere.

But I swear that all the items under the My Lighting menu used to be be blue, like the one ApplianceLinc. Also the shade of red in the Scene section (for Controllers) is slightly different than the shade of red for controllers under Scenes (the red ones in My Lighting are more pinkish). I'll try to attach a screen grab here.

Also, item titles seem to switch between italics and normal text, for no apparent reason (and with no apparent indication of what either means).

The only mention of red/blue in the manual is for the Scenes; I can't find any other reference to colors in the left side of the screen.

If Controllers were displayed in Blue in the My Lighting tree that was wrong. Most devices are Controllers or Controller/Responder devices so the majority of nodes in the My Lighting tree will be Red. LampLincs are Controller/Responder devices. ApplianceLincs are Responder only.

Yikes, I'm afraid I'm more confused: My LampLincs are shown as RED in My Lighting, but BLUE in Scenes -- (Family Room 1 & 2 in the pic).

Also, do the italics mean anything? I note that if I click on items in My Lighting they turn italic, and double-clicking turns off italics. It must mean something, but it's sure opaque what it is...

LampLincs are Controller/Responders and as such will be Red in the My Lighting tree. The color of the node in a Scene depends on how you added the node to the Scene. A Controller/Responder device (as the LampLinc is) can be added to a Scene as a Responder in which case it will be Blue in the Scene (and function only as a responder as far as the Scene is concerned) or added to the Scene as a Controller in which case it will be Red. Note that when a device is added to a Scene as a Controller it is assumed to also function as a Responder if the device has that capability. This assumption allows the ISY to automatically cross link Controller devices so the status LEDs on all the Controllers stay in sync.

Do not know what the Italics means besides perhaps that it has been selected.

Okay thanks Lee, I think I get it now. Must have imagined seeing blue LampLincs before. I get how they're assigned as one or the other in a scene now.

Moving forward, slowly forward, thanks again.

Eric.
