remedy1234 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Yesterday I was ableto send txt messages and Email for notifications. I tried to test the notifications tonight and got a mailer server failure - password not accepted. I have the SMTP setting at Use Default. Any suggestions? Thanks
Michel Kohanim Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Hello remedy1234, It's always best to use your own SMTP server as our default may impose limits. From the logs, there are many errors for gmail.coim ... (host unknown). With kind regards, Michel
remedy1234 Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Hi Michel Now I'm getting "Mail server DNS error" Help? Thanks
Michel Kohanim Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Are you still using the default mail server? If not, what is your SMTP server? Are you sure ISY can get to the Internet? With kind regards, Michel
remedy1234 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Hey Michel No I'm not using default,SMTP is icloud and I am connected to the internet. Thanks Tim
polexian Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 You might have to use your ISP's smtp server. Im on cox and that is who i use. Couldn't get gmail to work properly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
AnthemAVM Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I just stopped getting email notifications yesterday also. I was using default.
Michel Kohanim Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I do apologize ... it seems that we had a user with 1000s of emails going to gmail.coim (not gmail.com) and that caused us to reach the limit for this month. Please do be kind enough to use your own SMTP servers as much as possible. With kind regards, Michel
remedy1234 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Michel I finally got the test to work. For some reason when I put a name in the "FROM" field it would not go through. However I still cannot get it to notify me on the trigger of the program. It worked fine before on the default. The test is working fine.????? Thanks Tim
Michel Kohanim Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Tim, Our mail server is back up ... the main issue was that we had reached the limit and had to unblock the account for it to work again. With kind regards, Michel
remedy1234 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Michel Thanks for the update,it works on default any idea why it will not work with my server? Thanks Tim
Michel Kohanim Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Tim, what is your server? You have to make sure you use the correct port for your specific server. Also, please note that some ISPs mail servers, do not require userid/password (you are already on their network). With kind regards,
remedy1234 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Michel my server is smtp.me.com It comes through when I test it but not when I run the "then" in the program.I took out the password port works on 25 or 587.??? Sorry for being a pain Thanks Tim
Michel Kohanim Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Hi Tim, I think this post should explain what you need to do: http://email.about.com/od/accessingmobi ... ttings.htm With kind regards, Michel
kcrossley Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I can confirm that these settings do indeed work with iCloud and Verizon text messaging: SMTP Server: smtp.mail.me.com SMTP Port: 587 User ID: your-user-id@me.com Password: (leave this blank) From: your-user-id@me.com Timeout: 1000 Use TLC: Unchecked
