RichTJ99 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Hi, In the past I had an issue with a Insteon Keylinc pad "D" button not working. Basically I would hit D & nothing would happen. I called ISY support, they had me put it the ISY into some sort of better logging mode so we could check if the D was registering on the network. It turned out that it wasnt & thats why the scene wasnt launching itself. I called Insteon & had the switch replaced. Now (2 years later) I am having the same problem with the same switch. I was hoping to get some help figuring out how to put it into that diagnostic logging mode to see if that D command is being registered. Any ideas on how to do that before I call Insteon for another replacement? Thanks, Rich

RichTJ99 Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Thanks, that is it. I cant figure how a keylink pad would have a non - responsive "D" button that lights up when touched but doesnt report to the ISY. All other buttons do. That keypad was changed out to another & this one has the same exact problem - with the same exact button. WTH is that about?
LeeG Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 RichTJ99 Every KeypadLinc button has its own set of link records both in the KeypadLinc itself and the ISY PLM. It sounds like the button D link record in the KeypadLinc or the PLM has been lost or is corrupted. Do a Tools | Diagnostics | Show Device Links Table for the KeypadLinc and click Compare button when all the link records have been displayed. There should be a link record for button D that looks like the following ... E2 xx aa.bb.cc zz zz zz xx is an 04 if an 8 button KPL, 06 if a 6 button KPL aa.bb.cc is the Insteon address of the ISY PLM zz zz zz is not important - not related to the functioning of the link record What level ISY firmware is running? Do Programs issue any Adjust Scene statements for the KeypadLinc? Is this a 6 or 8 button KPL? Lee
RichTJ99 Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Hi, The compare showed as identical. Firmware of ISY is 3.1.15. I dont have any scene adjustments on this Keylinc. This is a 6 button KPL. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks, Rich
LeeG Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 The link record for KPL button D is missing. With the ISY compare not showing a missing link record the ISY has lost track of the link record for button D. Does the Help | About show 3.1.15 for both Firmware and UI (UI line is immediately below Firmware line)? What firmware level has been running since the KeypadLinc was replaced? EDIT: the link records are not in the order they would normally be. Was a Restore Device issued for the KeypadLinc and if so why?
RichTJ99 Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 Lee, I am pretty sure that when my first keylinc broke, that ISY tech support logged in to help me swap my keypadlinc over using the replace command. It was done so I wouldnt have to reenter all my scene / program data. The firmware & UI are the same numbers. This switch has been in for about 1.5 to 2 years & it was probably with the latest (at that time) firmware. Thanks, Rich
LeeG Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Thanks Rich. Sorry for not being clear, I was asking what ISY firmware level has been running for that 1.5 to 2 years.
