bcrawfo2
My isy99 and PLM have been working great for about a year. Yesterday I was trying to replace a lamplinc with another using the ISY menu. This failed and then I couldn't add that device back. In a late night attempt to get things working again I wiped the ISY and PLM and started adding devices back in. I got a few devices in and then the process dies mid-device. If I try to finish it by "Write updates to devices", this fails. At this point I can't control any of the devices that I added back successfully. I'll unplug the PLM and restarts. Sometimes I can add another device, other times it says the PLM is offline. The ISY knows my PLM address and sees it as connected. Any thoughts on troubleshooting? Or is it new PLM time? bcrawfo2
An update...I took a break and about an hour later I was able to add about 20 devices successfully. All was going great until I added a KPL8 that repeated the problem I had...couldn't finish adding it. Now I can't add any more devices. Some half-add...others won't even start the process. Michel Kohanim
Hello bcrawfo2, This does not sound good. What's your PLM's firmware version (Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Status/Info)? If v98, that could be the root cause. Also, do you have any SwitchLinc v35s? With kind regards, Michel
bcrawfo2
My PLM is v52 (I bought it early and didn't use it for a while). I have a few switchlincs that are v.27.
ELA
Hello bcrawfo2, This does not sound good. What's your PLM's firmware version (Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Status/Info)? If v98, that could be the root cause. With kind regards, Michel Hello Michel, Would you please explain in detail why a version98 PLM could be a root cause? I have one V98 PLM that is not in service but I consider it a possible backup to my existing PLM should I ever need it. I would like to know if there are some known issues with this PLM version? Brian H
The V52 PLM is an older one with 417 Link Database. Do you know how many links you have in the PLM? I would also like to know what a V98's problems maybe. Mine is a V98.
LeeG
One of the symptoms associated with the v.98 is link records with 00.00.00 Insteon address.
Brian H
Thanks LeeG for the information.
ELA
One of the symptoms associated with the v.98 is link records with 00.00.00 Insteon address. Would you please explain a little further LeeG? A statement like that makes me wonder if I should return my V98 PLM? What other issues are there and what problems does the bogus link record cause? Has this been reported in more than one instance? TJF1960
ELA, I had problems with adding a remotelinc and some icon switches both thru a new plm restore as well as trying to add them after the restore. Here is one of the threads http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=7471 Replaced with a v.99 and all has been good since. LeeG
i don't have all the specifics on v.98. The link record with an Insteon address of 00.00.00 will not work. If a Controller record the expected device will not react. if a Responder record the PLM will not see state changes from the device.
bcrawfo2
Another update on my original problem. I got just about all my devices linked again. The original device that I tried to "replace" still isn't working (have a ping out to Smarthome). My early attempts at adding devices may have been from poor ordering. A question...does Insteon's repeating function only help when devices are linked to the controller...or does it help linked or not?
LeeG
Insteon automatic retry applies to Scene (Group) commands used after a device is linked (pressing a paddle/button) and Direct commands that are used to create the links and direct control of devices.
