Brignolo Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 With the end of the Christmas Holiday and the retiring of all the Christmas related devices, it would be nice to not have them come up as "Cannot Communicate with THIS DEVICE Please Check Connections" when you first start the GUI. I COULD remove them but being lazy (coolness factor aside, isn't that ONE of the reasons we all own ISY's?) I don't want to add them back next year. Any Ideas? Joe
Sub-Routine Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Joe, this happens during the 3AM My Lights Query. I have a few LampLincs that I used on our holiday lights. I don't want to remove them either, that would break my schedule programs. I made several scenes which, when added together, contain all my devices. Then I modified the Query All program to only query the devices that are always connected. If Time is 3:00:00AM Then Set Scene 'Indoor Lights' Query Set Scene 'Outside Lights' Query Set Scene 'Basement Lights' Query Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Schedule migrated from previous version. Modified for specific devices. During the holiday season you could add (if you like) Set Scene 'XMas All' Query Last night our power went out and when it was restored the ISY did a Query All. I started seeing all the popups again. I plugged in the XMas LampLincs and did a Query All (right click on My Lights and select Query). That eliminated the errors. After that you can unplug the LLs and no more error messages. Rand
Brignolo Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 Rand: That worked! Sorry for the belated reply. It took me awhile to create the scenes for Query. I have 51 devices on my network exclusive of KPL's, CL's, and RL's. I finally decided to do it by floors, and the exterior. A good move because I can use the utility of those scenes elswhere. And yes, the Christmas stuff has its own seperate scene. I held my breath this morning when I logged on to my ISY, but there were no communication errors. Thank you, Joe P.S. It still would be good if there was a "right click" option in the "My Lighting" menu. It would solve the tempory removal issue.
Sub-Routine Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I'm glad it worked for you Joe. Another advantage of breaking your devices into scenes is the ease it can add to checking the statuses of your devices, especially when you have a lot of devices. I agree, a "Disable Device" could be grouped with "Remove Device" in the context menu. Rand
Michel Kohanim Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Hello Joe and Rand, Yes, I do agree as well. I just added the Disable requirement to our list ... Thanks so very much for your feedback, With kind regards, Michel I'm glad it worked for you Joe.
