Stan K Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Hi, I have done an installation in a pretty big house with over 75 switches. Everything is working perfectly except for one annoying problem. I have an 8 button keypad linc at the front door. 4 of these buttons are labeled "Home, Away, All On, and All OFF" and are controllers in a single whole house scene. These 4 controller scenes within the whole house scene are working well and there are no problems with the actual functionality of the buttons as far a driving the scene goes. But I am trying to get the buttons to not turn on when you press them. I just want the buttons to activate the scene and then not stay lit. There deosn't seem to be an easy way to do this on the ISY. The Houselinc software from Smarthome lets you easily put a button into radio mode where it can activate the scene and stay unlit but as of yet I see no easy way to do this within the ISY. So I created a scene with those four buttons, and then a program which turns the scene off 2 seconds after any of the buttons get pressed. The problem is these four buttons do not show "On" status when pressed for some strange reason. The other 4 buttons on the KPL work fine and do show status changes. All the four buttons are set to toggle. When I test the four button scene I can turn the backlights on and off perfectly. The only thing I can think of is that these four buttons are in my whole house scene as controllers. That is the only thing they have in common. I tried restoring the KPL but that didn't work. I also have other KPL around the house that use multiple buttons as controllers within the same scene and they show status changes perfectly. This doesn't seem like a faulty KPL because half of it is working fine. This has me frustrated. Any help would be appreciated. SK
LeeG Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Either the link records for those four buttons which would normally point to the ISY PLM have been lost or the PLM link records for those four buttons have been lost. With the Restore Device not resolving the problem it is likely the PLM records for those four buttons are no longer there. What PLM are you using, 2412 or 2413? If a 2413 how many link records does the PLM currently contain? You may have exceeded the capacity of a 2413 PLM. Do a Show PLM Links Table and click Count. Insteon traffic reaching the PLM during the Show can produce invalid results so it is useful to run the Show and Count multiple times. If the PLM link table has not been exceeded and the problem is with the PLM link records a Restore Modem (PLM) should restore the PLM link database. Before doing any restore I suggest running Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Level 3-Device communications events selected and press each of the 4 KeypadLinc buttons to see if any Insteon traffic is traced when the button is pressed.
