bigdog Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I have brand new everything and have updated my ISY-99i Pro firmware to the latest release. I am trying to install 2 Insteon 2441V Rev 2.3 thermostat adapters for my 2 Venstar T1800 (7 day programmable) thermostats. I have no problem linking them and can query them without any issue as well. In face I have probably linked, deleted, rebooted and linked at least 10 times using 3 different procedures. I can query them and get the exact thermostat settings so I know they are linked properly. The problem is that the thermostats do not respond to any ISY commands. Nothing I try changes anything on the thermostat. The admin console acts like it is writing the changes to the device and displays all the proper progress bars, however the thermostat simply will not change any settings whatsoever. Any help would sure be appreciated. -Brian
LeeG Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Was the thermostat in Off mode when the adaptor was added to the ISY? This is a requirement when adding the device to ISY.
bigdog Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 It was actually not in off mode. I did not discover this requirement/suggestion until after looking for a solution. I have however, done factory resets on the 2441Vs and re-tried the entire procedure from the beginning with the thermostats in the off mode. The odd part is that everything "appears" to work from the admin console side. I can query the thermostats fine and then results are always correct, and seemingly change the thermostats settings from the console and they appear to write to the device. But looking at the thermostat itself, nothing changes at all. I got a little too complacent and did not check the ISY docs specifically for this device. After being stuck in "HomeSeer/X10 Hell" for the past 10 years, I decided to move to Insteon and the ISY-99. Everything has worked perfectly and I have had no problems thus far adding any type of device, and have more on their way. Thanks -Brian
LeeG Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Having the thermostat in Program Auto mode will not allow it to accept changes from the ISY.
bigdog Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 Ok, that's good to know if I get 'em working. So far, I have only set the thermostats to "off" or "heat" to test their ability to receive commands.
rls Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted on a similar topic...sorry for the dup's... I have the same ones, though the 1 day version (didnt see the need for 7 day programmable ones with the ISY included). They seem really sporatic at times, just doing status queries, but generally work. Maybe they need frequent polls?
Michel Kohanim Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Hello all, This is a known issue with i2cs thermostats (reported as v95) in the Admin Console. It should be fixed and released in 3.2.2 hopefully tomorrow. With kind regards, Michel
bigdog Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Excellent! Last night I pulled the thermostats off and checked jumper settings, did factory resets all around, and had pretty much given up. I was just getting ready to call and get an RMA and send them back. I'll hold off. I really would like them to work.
bigdog Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 I installed 3.2.2 with no issues, and it completely resolved the problem I had with the thermostat dongles. Everything works as it should now. All thermostat functions behave as expected. The only thing I needed to do was restore the devices after the upgrade. Thank you very much!
