Possible to have a switch not control its own load?

I am curious if it is possible to have a switchlinc not control its own load when turned on or off, but have its load controlled only by another switch? I assume not, but just had to ask.

You are correct, it is not possible to separate the operation of the paddle from the load attached to the red wire. It is fine to not have a load attached to the red wire.
