remedy1234 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Hi Everyone, I just purchased two switchlinc dimmers V.40,when I turn them on the status does not update on ISY.I can turn them on and off through ISY and they show correct status,query them to update status after I turn them on physically but they will not update when I turn on by them selves. LeeG Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 What ISY firmware is running? The SwitchLinc Dimmer may now be an I2CS device which requires 3.2.4. The SwitchLinc Relay has been for a few weeks. Run Tools | Diagnostics | Show Device Links Table. Then click compare. If the link records are F9 FA FB FC FD FE FF or something close to that it is an I2CS device.

LeeG Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 If that is the only link record the E2 ..... Controller link record is missing. Click the SwitchLinc Dimmer node in the My Lighting tree. What is displayed on the 2nd line in the right pane for the type of device? If it shows the expected SwitchLinc Dimmer then right click the SwitchLinc node and do Restore Device. This should restore the missing link record. If the SwitchLinc was added under an ISY firmware (prior to moving to 3.2.4) that was not aware of that specific SwitchLinc Dimmer device type it could be listed as Unsupported device type. If this is the case Delete the SwitchLinc and add it back under 3.2.4.

LeeG Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 If the FanLinc is new (last 2 or 3 weeks) and was added to the ISY before moving to 3.2.4, the FanLinc has to be Deleted and added back under 3.2.4. With the SwitchLinc Dimmer added under 3.2.4 the links are correct which leaves a communication problem. Simple test, connect the SwitchLinc to an appliance cord and plug the Appliance cord into the same circuit as the ISY PLM. If it works a communication problem exists at the current SwitchLinc location. If it does not work plugged into the same circuit as the PLM the SwitchLinc is defective. I looked back over earlier posts and did not find the FanLinc mentioned. Was the post in a different topic?

I have the same problem with fanlinc (different Circuit) I also have other devices on that circuit that work properly.I will move an access point on that circuit and check if it works. Thanks Tim
LeeG Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Okay. You've Deleted and added the SwitchLinc under 3.2.4. You have powered the SwitchLinc from the same circuit as the PLM. The only thing left is to factory reset the PLM and do a File | Restore Modem (PLM). Would be very strange for a PLM issue be related to a single device. If the Restore Modem (PLM) does not resolve it replace the SwitchLinc.
LeeG Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Two things to check. Run Help | About and confirm there is a Firmware and a UI line and they both say 3.2.4. When the SwitchLinc is selected does the right pane indicate the device is a SwitchLinc Dimmer.

Brian H Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Power Strip? If the power strip has noise filtering in it. It can absorb the Insteon Signals. Try a test with direct AC wall power.

LeeG Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 The ISY is changing the displayed SwitchLinc status because it is hearing the Motion Sensor message. It is not hearing the SwitchLinc messages. Let me make the suggestion once more. Put the SwitchLinc on an appliance cord and plug the appliance cord into the PLM plug point. That eliminates communications questions. If it does not work there something did not work adding the SwitchLinc to the ISY under 3.2.4. If it works at the PLM plug point there is a comm. Problem at the SwitchLinc install point.

LeeG Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Delete the SwitchLinc from the ISY. Factory reset the SwitchLinc. Verify Help | About is showing 3.2.4 for Firmware and UI. Invoke Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Level 3-Device communications events selected. Using New INSTEON Device enter the Insteon address and Name, leaving Device Type set to Auto Discover. Post the event trace from the New INSTEON Device add. Note that if another product like Indigo is creating links in the ISY PLM the results are unpredictable. Indigo could easily wipe out links the ISY has created which would result in device state changes not being registered.

Do a Show Device Links Table against the SwitchLinc and confirm there are two link records that look like this … 0FF8 A2001970C5FF1F01 0FF0 E2011970C5FF1F01 0FE8 0000000000000000 Assuming this is what is displayed the SwitchLinc link records were created successfully. If the SwitchLinc is not showing a state change to the Admin Console (assuming other devices do show state change) when the paddle is pressed the issue is in the PLM link database. The PLM link records were created according to the trace. The last thing to try is to Factory reset the PLM and do a Restore Modem (PLM).
