belanger Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 You got me more confused. I don't qualify for alpha, I don't even own a ISY yet. I hesitate between ISY and Indigo. Let me rephrase my question, today's ISY 994 series (non zigbee) available on the market, can they all support upcoming z-wave? What's the expected street price? Will it compare to the z-wave dongle at ~60$ ? Thank you, Pierre
Michel Kohanim Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Hi Pierre, You got me more confused. I don't qualify for alpha, I don't even own a ISY yet. I hesitate between ISY and Indigo. Let me rephrase my question, today's ISY 994 series (non zigbee) available on the market, can they all support upcoming z-wave? They will be able to support ZWave with an additional ZWave radio (in alpha). What's the expected street price? Will it compare to the z-wave dongle at ~60$ ? The whole ISY994 for $60.00? Or just the ZWave radio for $60.00. Please note that you cannot just take our ZWave radio and use it somewhere else. It's custom designed to work with ISY only With kind regards, Michel
belanger Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Knowing it will work in any ISY994 (non zigbee) , at least I know I can buy a ISY today and later get z-wave. I mean the street price of only the zwave radio, because it's custom I would expect perhaps 100$ but the lower is always better for my pocket Pierre
Michel Kohanim Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Hi Pierre, I understand. Currently the price of the module is $100.00 but, if you look at all our products, you will note that in majority of cases we do not add any mark up on modules in case you want to buy them separately. So, for instance: ISY994i is $x ISY994i PRO is $x+$30.00 Upgrade to PRO module is $30.00. *In the case of physical things, you will have to take shipping into consideration With kind regards, Michel
belanger Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I'm been digging around and didn't find answer to my question... I know you guys are looking to support Z-Wave locks, but what's on the roadmap? Thermostat, switches/dimmers ... ? I read the Insteon thermostat issue everyone is complaining about and that Insteon took months to acknowledge the issue, I was planning to go wall-to-wall with Insteon but not anymore. I already have insteon dimmers/switches/motion but due to "Insteon helpless support" , I'd like to aim at Z-Wave for the future. Thank you, Pierre
Michel Kohanim Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Pierre, Schlage door locks and almost all thermostats, relays, and dimmers. We have tested RCS, Trane, Wayne Dalton, and Honeywell thermostats. With kind regards, Michel
belanger Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm glad with your answer, I'm now a customer and almost ready to order a few z-wave accessories including a Schlage, Yale or Kwikset deadbolt. Sincerely, Pierre
chrislott Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 ooo ooo can I be added to the alpha list if there is any room? Chris Lott
Michel Kohanim Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Hello Mr. Lott, Yes, of course. Please register for News or Beta: http://www.universal-devices.com/register We have already shipped a few and will officially start alpha this week. With kind regards, Michel
homejones Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Hello Mr. Lott, Yes, of course. Please register for News or Beta: http://www.universal-devices.com/register We have already shipped a few and will officially start alpha this week. With kind regards, Michel Are Kwikset locks on the roadmap? If I have the Zigbee model - will the switch out be available during the alpha period?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Hello homejones, Kwickset is on the roadmap but not in the initial release. Yes, you can switch your Zigbee with a ZWave as long as you are willing to pay for shipping your Zigbee radio back. With kind regards, Michel
hmatos Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Michel, I thought I registered, but I haven't seen anything about the Z-Wave Beta Purchase/Announcement. Is there any way for me to verify that I'm on that list? Thanks,
YoursmartHome Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Michel, I thought I registered, but I haven't seen anything about the Z-Wave Beta Purchase/Announcement. Is there any way for me to verify that I'm on that list? Thanks, Same here. Haven't seen any news on the Zwave alpha in my inbox .....
akula34 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I'd love to get in on the alpha action! I'm signed up as well, but would love to switch out my Zigbee radio for a Z-Wave. My utility company refuses to allow me to access my meter anyway, which is very frustrating... Looking forward to the Alpha testing! Luke
Michel Kohanim Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Hi Guys, No emails were sent. Only a couple of modules were sent to ISY developers for initial testing. We should have the announcement/email on Friday in conjunction with our 4.0.1 Beta firmware. With kind regards, Michel
NewbieTri100 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Can't wait to get that email today notifying me of the z-wave alpha program. I'm anxious to give it a try. Will any door locks be supported from the beginning? What devices will be supported from the beginning? I hoping plug in lighting modules, motion sensors, and door locks. Regards, Michael
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Hi Michael, so am I!!! With kind regards, Michel
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Hello everyone, Just wanted to let you know that our Alpha is officially underway. If you have not yet received the email, please send an email to sales@universal-devices.com with subject Z-Wave Alpha. Here's the content of the email: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Our long awaited Z-Wave Alpha for ISY994i Series is now officially underway. Prerequisites: 1. You must already have an ISY994i Series 2. You are willing to test and provide feedback 3. You acknowledge that you are still dealing with Alpha quality code with many limitations especially on Z-Wave device support 4. You acknowledge that there might be incompatible changes between releases in Alpha and thus you might have to remove and re-add your Z-Wave devices 5. You acknowledge that physical assembly is required (you have to open ISY994 and install the kit) 6. The cost of Z-Wave Kit is $85.00 + shipping We will only accept 35 Alpha participants purely on a first come first serve basis. If you are still interested, please do be kind enough to reply back to this email with: 1. Your name and contact information 2. Your shipping address 3. Let us know whether or not you have a perforated square on the back (NOT bottom) of your ISY to the right of Port A With kind regards,
NewbieTri100 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Yipee! Just sent my email! I didn't receive the announcement email but followed your instructions posted on this forum thread. Let's have some fun now!
KenN Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Could anyone expand on UD's expectations of alpha testers? That is, in terms of experience, size of system, etc., etc.? I'm interested in participating, but not sure if I'm the target, or optimum, "alpha tester". I have zero experience with Z-wave, but have successfully implemented about 40 insteon devices over the past 6-8 months with few issues. I've purchased/installed 6 z-wave thermostats in anticipation of upgrading my 994i with the z-wave radio. Plan is to get a few deadbolts for the doors in the near(ish) future. I do have 25+ years of experience sorting out interconnecting communications systems with industrial comm protocols, so I guess that's a plus. Interested in getting into the z-wave action, but I don't want to take a spot from a potential alpha tester who offers a better resume. Oh, and the fact that I reside in Canada may also be a factor! Cheers, Ken.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hi Ken, You are definitely eligible. As far as you being in Canada, yes, that's definitely a financial factor for you to consider since UPS' average shipping charges to Canada are around $25.00 (usually $35.00). With kind regards, Michel
Issacsim Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Michel, I have a couple of Schlage BE469 installed in my house. If you want me to test them, I would like to join the beta program and purchase the Z-Wave Kit. I do have a new ISY994IR PRO with the perforated square on the back. Issac
Michel Kohanim Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Hi Isaac, Thanks so very much for your interest. Unfortunately we have already met (and went above) our goal for 35 Alpha users. With kind regards, Michel
homejones Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Hi Isaac, Thanks so very much for your interest. Unfortunately we have already met (and went above) our goal for 35 Alpha users. With kind regards, Michel Sweet - I must have just gotten in for the Alpha. Thanks guys!
max90034 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I found this old thread and here are few questions I have: 1) is z-wave kit available for "non-testers" now? 2) I have 994iZ. Can I just order z-wave kit (when it is available) and replace zigbee I have now with z-wave in my 994iZ? 3) I Have isy99 pro in my vacation house. Is it compatible with z-wave module? Thanks.
