MikeBro Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Every once in a while one of the valves goes on and stays on forever. ISY reports it as being OFF, even after many queries, even when it is obviousy running. Sending an explicit OFF command then shuts it off. It happens maybe once a month, since I hooked it up about 6 months ago. Is there any way to fix this?
LeeG Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Check the ISY Log. Is there an entry for the EZFlora Zone that turned On? The Query of the EZFlora is not working at 3.2.6. I can turn a Zone On through the Admin Console setting the Current State for the Zone On. A subsequent Query marks the Zone Off even though the Zone is still On.
MikeBro Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Tis appears in the log. Sprinklers / 2 Backyard Lawn Off Mon 2012/05/14 02:29:55 AM Web Log Sprinklers / 2 Backyard Lawn Off Mon 2012/05/14 02:30:00 AM Web Log Sprinklers / 2 Backyard Lawn Fast Off Mon 2012/05/14 02:30:18 AM Web Log However, it was sprinkler #7 that was on in the morning. I have a sprinkler program set up, but there is no condition set for it; I only trigger it manually. It also only turns on and off 2, 3, and 5. I wonder if some random noise triggers it via X10? I am using 3.2.6; should I go back to the previous release?
LeeG Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 No reason to go back go an earlier ISY image. With nothing in the Log the ISY did not turn On the Zone. Each Zone has a unique Timeout value which causes the EZFlora to turn Off the Zone if the Zone has run longer than the Timeout value. Will not stop it from turning On but will stop it from running all day if it happens when no one is home. Was an X10 code assigned to the EZFlora?
MikeBro Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 I know abou the timout (currently set to 30 minutes), yet it was running for several hours, and this is not the first time. I now have an Outlet linc as a fail-safe on the 24vac transformer, so even if the EzFlora triggers on the sprinklers won't come on, but it's not ideal. No X10 code that I know of. I've had the unit forever, but only hooked it up a couple months ago. ---Mieke
LeeG Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 If the Timeout did not shut it Off there is something else wrong.
MikeBro Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 That's my belief, but I don't know what, if anything, I can do about it.
LeeG Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I would swap Zone wires, such as 6 & 7, if that is practical. See if the problem stays with the EZFlora Zone 7 or moves to Zone 6.
MikeBro Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 FYI, it happened again this morning. I had an ON/OFF device on the 24VAC, so there was no harm; when I turned it on, the sprinklers went on. It was a different valve this time. Plus, when I turned on a different valve; both valves were on. My understanding is that this should never happen, so I suspect a defective module. It's the old "EzRain", so I doubt I can get it replaced, but I'll give it a shot. This is not a cheap hobby! ---MikeB
LeeG Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 With multiple zones On it sounds like a defective device. I lost two rain bird controllers over the years due to storms before moving to the EZFlora.
MikeBro Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 I had been happy with my dedicated sprinkler controllers for years. I still have one hooked up, as I have a dozen zones, but it doesn't have remote control, and it's in the basement.
