Keypad load button as responder

Is this possible? I have some older keypads and a newer keypad (that requires 1.7 beta in isy to work). But no matter what I do I cannot seem to figure out how to make the load button a responder in a scene.

When I try to drag a load button into a scene, it asks if I want to make it part of the scene just above it.

So, it could be a bug in the 1.7 tree view drag and drop. or it could be not possible.

Thanks in advance

Hey Matt -

I just did my first one last night with a v1.65 KPL, so it should work with a new one.

Older KPLs, however, were limited in that a secondary button could not control a scene containing the load button with a different ramp rate/on level.

Try right-clicking the device you want to add the the scene, and choose 'Add Device To Scene' instead.

Hi Matt,

Please try Right Mouse Click->Add to Scene and let me know if you are still experiencing the same problem.

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

If I try to add the new (KeypadLink Dimmer 8 Button v.2c) load button (called Kitchen Keypad. On) to the scene via right click and "add to scene" I get "Kitchen Keypad. On is already a controller for Kitchen On. Would you like to make it a responder?"

The message is correct for the Kitchen On scene. However, on the "add to scene" I selected Kitchen PM as the scene. Yet somehow it thought I selected the Kitchen On scene.

And as reported, if I try to drag Kitchen Keypad. On to the Kitchen PM scene, the drag cursor goes '+' like it is OK with the destination when I hover over Kitchen PM scene with the key press, but when I let go it has the same message.

Curiously, if I try to drag the load button on an older KPL, it works as expected.

So it seems to be something with the keypad. I noticed this also prior to doing a FR via telnet, so it's likely an easy repro with the right KPL.

Again, this is 1.61/1.7 beta.

Hi matt,

If I understand you correctly, then, what you are trying to do is to make the Kitchen Keypad. On, which is already a controller for Kitchen On, a responder for Kitchen PM. Thus the message is correct since a button cannot be a controller for more than one scene. So, when you answer Yes to the message, all that would happen is that Kitchen Keypad On will be a responder in Kitchen PM.

In what scenario would you have a button controller for more than one scene?

With kind regards,

Michel

Ah, I see what you are saying and it makes sense to me now too. I know verbose error messages can be even more confusing, but perhaps

"Kitchen Keypad. On is already a controller for Kitchen On. Would you like to make it a responder in Kitchen PM?"

instead of the current message

"Kitchen Keypad. On is already a controller for Kitchen On. Would you like to make it a responder?"

The current message implies that it will change the button from a controller to a responder in a scene you weren't even attempting to edit (and thus my first-time confusion). For a beginner, the message seems like you will need to go potentially undue something that isn't related to the current task or area of exploration, and thus there's a barrier to even trying it.

Thanks for the help!
