hart2hart Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 On occassion, I get errors where ntp service or weather bug has stopped responding. The error log will be full of errors when I notice and look. Is there a method to catch these errors in a program so I could for example send myself a text to investigate service issue?
Michel Kohanim Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hi hart2hart, The short answer is no. This said, are the errors DNS related or connection related? http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... r_Messages : -140000 HTTP_CLIENT_DNS_ERROR -140001 HTTP_CLIENT_BASE64_ENCRYPTION_FAILED -140002 HTTP_CLIENT_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT -140003 HTTP_CLIENT_WRITE_HEADER_FAILED -140004 HTTP_CLIENT_WRITE_BODY_FAILED -140005 HTTP_CLIENT_READ_RESPONSE_FAILED -140006 HTTP_CLIENT_HEADER_NO_STATUS -140007 HTTP_CLIENT_RESOURCE_MOVED -140008 HTTP_CLIENT_REQUEST_FAILED If DNS, then you could have a reminder email every 24 hours and when it does not arrive, then you can assume the DNS problem has started again. And, the main question is: why would you have these problems? What's your firmware version? Do you have Internet connectivity issues with other devices? With kind regards, Michel
hart2hart Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Michel: First, I'm on latest firmmware 3.2.6 and don't have regular network issues? I've seen the issue(s) surrounded by DNS errors and I just reboot ISY. On most ocassions, weatherbug or time have stopped reporting and all other network connections are working .... I run test email/txt program and I can connect wity Mobilinc, ISYajax and PC. In future release, could some of the system errors be exposed to programs (with me including controls to keep from getting a 1000 txt messages when there is general network failure -- oh wait that won't happen )? Maybe we could work with io_guy to have a heartbeat variable monitor program in reverse like DSCLink from a supervising PC and it could send txt message? io_guy are you tunned in? Just moved to DSCLink and that allowed me to retire current HomeSeer so I'm now using ISY for total HA. As usual working fantastic. Thanks, Paul
Michel Kohanim Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hi Paul, We shall take a look and see if this can be done. I am still concerned why you would have so many DNS errors ... are you using static IP address or DHCP? With kind regards, Michel
hart2hart Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Thanks for consideration. I use DHCP reservations.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Aha! By any chance is your router NetGear or Linksys E1/2/3/xxx? With kind regards, Michel
Michel Kohanim Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Hi Paul, Would you be kind enough to remove DHCP reservation and use static IP address for a while? I know for a fact that NetGear had major issues with DHCP reservations. With kind regards, Michel
